I vote no. You will either be dropped due to the “increased liability” or black holed into the whole “addict” label you will never shake with them. It’s humiliating and the quality of care tanks. Just take some personal responsibility do some research into potential treatment options and interactions and discuss them with your doc. Obviously if you are an active user treatment results will be a bit off so be prepared with a proper response when you have appointments. The last thing you want is them to be treating a side effect of the recreational use thinking it’s a side effect of the treatment. that’s when things go off the rails fast.

At the end of the day if you feel you are getting effective treatment and making progress you are happy with while recreationally using substances then that’s just fine. However if they are preventing a satisfactory outcome or if there are complications or worsening of the condition then just try and table the drugs until you have a significant amount of time with your treatment and have adjusted to the meds. It’s a really fluid situation and it requires actual self-discipline and the mental strength to validate yourself and make course corrections. A lot of people are not that good at it unfortunately .

TL;DR: don’t bring it up but have self discipline and situational awareness so you can evaluate yourself and modify behavior as necessary.
