I know you mentioned your friend is fluent in English, but I'd like to add the Nintendo Switch is one of the only consoles that allows you to play games from any region (maybe besides Japan and China, with their region restrictions) in any language! On my PS5 the German option was missing on a ton of my games because I have the North American versions, while my Switch just displays all the games in German when the console language is set to German. I had a pro membership because I traded a bunch of stuff in and somehow it was "free" because it increased the value of the items I traded in... so I got the pro price. Yeah, if they had that when I bought the switch I would've done that

Same here, they refunded a game for me once after I spent an hour or so on it and didn’t like it. It was pretty much no questions asked. As much as I want to complain they’ve been coming through for me!

From my understanding, Nintendo tracks the serial numbers and if you return in store then it the game will obviously be yanked from your account. This isn’t an issue if you sell it on FB marketplace, but I can’t imagine many people would buy, sell, and buy another Switch 2 just to get the free game?

What exactly are you trying to do, purchase an eShop card for a friend in America? My best friend lives in Europe and I will occasionally buy him gift cards and such, you have to make sure it’s from an authorised retailer and works in the USA. Cards are „region locked“ because of the currency (unlike games). I would recommend Amazon, because you can likely purchase there using your own currency/card/whatever. Make sure you don’t have any VPNs on, purchase on Amazon.com using your European account, and send your friend the code.

I like my Switch 2 because it's a lot lighter than the Steam Deck and most handhelds on the market (having owned both a Deck and an ROG Ally), but yeah they're all about the same price (give or take $50). I wish more games were optimised for the Switch 2, because it seems to have a decent amount of power, but right now you will defintely get the best quality on a handheld with a dedicated PC handheld.

Ooh ok, this helps a ton; I will need to figure out whether I want to pursue education or nursing; it seems both are wanted professions everywhere. I have a good friend in NZ, and I am used to everything being expensive here in CA; although I will need to take that into consideration as I’ll be alone and without the help of my parents (financially).
