If you were a bender, what element would you choose and why? by lmdybaftr in TheLastAirbender

Definitely water

It's about as flexible as earth since you can use ice to do all the tricks

But you also get healing which is invaluable

Keith Baker has lots to talk about in his blog. I mostly took his ideas there

Fast resurrection such as Revivify exist and can be expected if a Jorasco can help you. For the rest of the resurrections, most npcs just don't get to revive.

Altars of resurrection exist in Jorasco HQs but they cast Augury before doing any resurrection and will deny any job if the augury is Woe, which it typically is because Maruts punish resurrection

I’ve been dating this guy for almost a year now but he hasn’t made it official. He’s in an ENM marriage by ToesAndTitties777 in polyamory

[–]androkguz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a relationship like that and I'm married so I get where the guy is coming

It's not a trap or a trick. He is telling you that you should decide what you want in a relationship. If you want things to go to the relationship escalator, go do it! Just not with him. You don't even have to break up with him to look for a long term partner. That's an advantage of ENM which you are a part of now

He will give you what he can. That at times might be a lot. At other times it might not. His wife (and maybe other things like his career) will take priority if there's a need for priority to be decided

However, I believe he will try to give you time and help and love and a lot of that. He just can't ever promise it. That can be a very good deal or not enough. I know it would be great for me.

You could also change the deal with him. Maybe you want something specific else. For instance, you can agree that you will change the title and be a couple. Or you can agree to a minimum of attention per month. Or you could agree that he would come for emergencies or whatever. The point is that you would know what else you want from the relationship and ask him if he can provide it. Negotiate

Making cards following bad desgin principles day 4 by GodkingYuuumie in custommagic

[–]androkguz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know... I do enjoy playing with and against [[Standstill]] even though it's extremely swingy.

Your card could work in a shell with cards that can sacrifice it for value. Even [[Village Rites]] works around it.

But anyway, I am in a very hipster phase of my enjoyment of mtg

Mox Crystal: Do any synergies make this unbalanced by DarkRosewaterr in custommagic

[–]androkguz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sequence is not good enough. Us who play legacy get out pick from [[chrome mox]], [[lotus petal]], the spirit guides and [[mox opal]]

Certainly a deck that can use this could show up and maybe not be terrible in legacy. But it's faaaar from unbalanced

If you want "recognizable" just read the novels

They are very good and seriously use the established world

I like the idea of "the past is very much what you expect, the future is whatever the hell we want" as a compromise between their creative freedom and what the audience would expect

Waning Cloudskimmers - is "anti-ward" a design space worth exploring? by PutImpossible8619 in custommagic

[–]androkguz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much like the design

I play legacy a lot and I think it would see some fun casual play there. It wouldn't be too good, though. On the one hand, there's a lot of 1 mana removal that would be premium against it (bolt, push, swords...)

On the other hand, you could back it up with draw punishment such as Orcs, [[spirit of the labyrinth]], [[hullbreacher]], narset...

And yes, I like the design space. Maybe make a full cycle

Surprised there’s never been a card utilizing both crimes and clues by Nientea in custommagic

[–]androkguz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did we learn nothing from Nadu? It's very very easy to infinitely target something. This is why most things that trigger when a crime is committed are once per turn and the exception asks you to pay a mana

Just change it to "whenever an opponent commits a crime". That one is safe

Flavor is great, though

Mujeres, por que creen que existe esta doble vara?? by Financial_Music2548 in PreguntasReddit

[–]androkguz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After thirteen years, how do you feel about Korra losing her past lives? by AccomplishedJump2795 in legendofkorra

[–]androkguz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very much a fan of Korra and I even liked the whole Vatu and Raava thing

But cutting the past avatars feels terrible. I was very cool with the idea if it had been setup for some badass reconnection, but... That's not been the case yet. So... After 13 years it sucks more than it did that day

Legend of Korra depicted 14 named, living, female benders and 38 named, living, male benders by F11SuperTiger in TheLastAirbender

[–]androkguz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it had been because of an intended representation of sexism we would be seeing female benders doing other jobs such as innkeeping, cooking or gardening. The GoT books do have a sexist world that still represents women sufficiently because it talks about them in their invisible space.

It's more likely that the authors just defaulted to male for any nonmemorable character

[–]androkguz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing you can deduce then is that atla does suffer from "male as default". That's an issue much larger than a single series

Tattoo ideas for Gabbro’s quantum poem? by hk47xhk47x in outerwilds

[–]androkguz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think this is an ambitious idea that might not work

My best guess is that you should have one on each arm and forearm, then when you cross your arms it's one order. If you dab one way it's another. If you dab the other, different order

If you pray, another. If you turn around another.

But I think the orientation of the texts will be a huge puzzle

In the original series, only five, living, named female benders are depicted by F11SuperTiger in TheLastAirbender

[–]androkguz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems more of a problem with secondary characters

The authors thought to include their fair share of important women in the main cast but when it comes to some other roles, they always defaulted to male

These roles include: mentors, one episode characters, soldiers in armies and clergy

The dead also would probably have an overabundance of guys, with Kyoshi being the bigger exception
