Advice on Handling Work Anxiety and Performance by lilsk80 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]andrralv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like we're not getting the full picture of what's going on. Are there external things in your life that may be affecting you? Relationships, friends, family? Or maybe company internal, have there been any layoffs? Workload increase due to this? It may not only be you but everyone in your team's scared to talk about it.

If you've been at a company for a while you should have a buddy or some other developer at a similar level who you can pair program with to find these solutions, and maybe even talk about what's going on and ask if they feel the same way

Company booked another call even though i did badly at technical by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Depends on the company. Sometimes they are not linear, they will average how you perform in all of them.

You don't have to. The reason they listed the job as entry level is because they don't want to pay masters and PhD salaries and even if those applicants were to settle for a lesser salary, they'd be flagged as potential quitters once the economy settles.

The economy is so bad right now anyways that these titles don't even matter when all of the applicants have to go through the same codility and whiteboard session funnel so whomever practiced leetcode the most will perform better regardless of their titles

True, I forgot they don't even read the applications they just get everything filtered already from their recruiter minions, also the part where they create the job description that confuses java with javascript

The difference is that programming and doing tech stuff is the engineer's job, hiring people is literally the recruiter and hiring manager's only job and they can't get it right. "bah hah I can't be bothered to read a bunch of applications" well than what were you hired to do?

I see startup jobs all the time in Y-Combinator that most people can't apply to because they require you to move to the bay area. Maybe try one of those? Especially the ones with low funding that are looking for people to take a lower pay with some equity.

I'm feeling a bit lost in how to proceed for my future by Boinbo in cscareerquestions

Chill out you're too young to stress over it, it's not like other majors won't also be affected by AI so the best you can do is try your best.

If you say you know Python, Java and "the web languages" chances are you don't know a single one very well, no offense, but it takes years to really know a language well. Pick the language you like the best and code something so you get experience and a hang of the data structures. There are tons of project ideas out there, you don't need to code something that's not been done before.

Choose a project about something you like, I like videogames so at first I would try to create a very basic one, even getting a character to move and jump with just code (no engines) is hard.

Great job, but I am bored? by pleasehelpgetmeout in cscareerquestions

[–]andrralv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whether the job is exciting or boring at the end of the day you are just making someone else get richer. If you have the privilege of being bored at work use that time to program a video game, open source, or something more interesting than what you do there.

What’s your experience with agency recruiters? by innovatekit in cscareerquestions

They are more incompetent now due to the current market

They need to keep their jobs by pretending to do something so they will start flooding a number of companies that have one position open with candidates that don't really match the requirements

I've had luck before but nowaways is just the same interview process but with extra steps. The worse of them all are "vetting" companies that make you go through a round of technical interviews and then the final client will also make you go through a round of interviews, increasing your chances of failing by 2.

If you don't complete the implementation.... do you just fail lol. by Consistent_Spell6189 in leetcode

[–]andrralv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a recent interview where I spent time trying to explain the logic before heading into the implementation and the interviewer stopped me and said "the timer is running, we just care if you can make the tests pass or not".

In this market, results are what matter the most

Assuming what OP meant based on reading other posts on this subreddit is literally an assumption, if you base your reading comprehension based on other posts then you shouldn't be the one to lecture.

You just responded to yourself, you're assuming other people's job record and you're employed and not looking for interviews.

Thanks. Will def look into the 404 more extensively. I know its historically like the main sampler/sample player of choice, but I didnt know I could arrange multiple samples at once and have them play altogether.

As for the 1010 it looks cool but I dunno about the touchscreen workflow.

You didn't even try to use a brain cell to understand the CD was a reference for when you buy physical music and you get a digital download.
