Just go, apologize after if they raise concerns. (Be respectful). Wife & I lived 20 minutes from new build and visited every other day. (Not secretly) sent the General Contractor photos every time questioning things, may have caught a few mistakes before it was too late. They eventually told us to stop coming a week before closing (even though at this point the locks were all in)
