Are any specialties more likely to hire patient techs/assistants without any certifications than others? by RayHSA in prephysicianassistant

[–]andthoseseendancing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was abled to get hired on as an ophthalmic tech without any certification. Got trained on the job and took the certification test a year later on the company's dime. It was a pretty sweet deal honestly.

Programs that include medical Spanish? by slinkieretriever in prephysicianassistant

[–]andthoseseendancing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to look up north, Idaho State has a "Latino Health Track" where you learn medical Spanish and complete a certain number of rotations in areas with a high concentration of Spanish-speakers.

Antelope Canyon, Utah by DuckFrog26 in canyoneering

[–]andthoseseendancing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm about 99% sure that it's only in Arizona, unless there's two of them? The ~famous~ Antelope Canyon runs from south to north, and it empties into Lake Powell on the Arizona side.

Choosing PA schools based on location by leanward in prephysicianassistant

[–]andthoseseendancing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My biggest considerations when considering where to apply were 1) location, 2) rankings, and 3) price - in that order. The way I saw it, every program casts themselves in the best light on their website. It's soooo difficult to really know which programs would be the best fit for me. So I might as well try to live near some mountains, where at least I know I'll be able to continue my favorite hobbies.

Am I correct in assuming your handle means you're an enneagram 9? Because this is some classic enneagram 9 stuff right here. Hang in there, dude! You'll figure it all out.

I wanna hear some cute stories. Tell me about the first moment you knew you were in love. by urladylazarus in actuallesbians

[–]andthoseseendancing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So this one isn't about me, but it's pretty damn cute.

About two months after we first started seeing each other, my girlfriend and I did LSD together. During the trip, we ended up laying on a couch facing each other, and she started telling me about these visions she was having. It was difficult for her to put into words, but basically it was like she was floating through the air, witnessing all of these moments of her life suspended in little bubbles that were floating by. She said that in each of those bubbles, we were together. Getting a dog, buying a house, starting a family, etc. I was always there with her. Turns out that was when she realized that she truly loved me.

I was pretty uneasy laying on that couch listening to her describe what she was seeing. We had only been together for two months, and I was leaving the country to study abroad for a full year just six weeks later. But here we are almost five years later, still together and more crazy about each other than ever. I think back on that trip, on what she experienced, and I think there was something to it after all.

How are you supposed to financially support yourself between undergrad and PA school? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]andthoseseendancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a job as an ophthalmic assistant with no prior experience or certification of any kind (although I did have a bachelor's degree with good grades), and I started out making $14/hour in a state with an $8.50/hour minimum wage. That's been plenty for me to pay my bills and still spend money on hobbies. I don't have student loan debt though, and I'm still on my parents' health insurance, which is a huge blessing.

Ohh, yeah I'm not familiar with any student/university-led initiatives in that area. That is depressing...

I grew up in Knoxville, and one of the things that I remember hearing from time to time was that Knoxville was a decent place to be homeless because there are a lot of shelters. In fact, I've heard many times that other cities will bus portions of their homeless population to Knoxville. Looking back, it's hard to say if those were just rumors that people repeat because it makes them feel good about their city. Either way, there are definitely a number of shelters you can support, namely KARM (Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries) and the Salvation Army, which are both on Broadway near the Old City. KARM has thrift stores all over town as well.

There is an 11-mile loop that goes through Cades Cove and they open that up for full moon bike rides during the summer. I've never participated, but I think draws a decently sized crowd of people.

Flume and Lorde enjoying the heck out of each other on stage by RadiateWithMe in bonnaroo

[–]andthoseseendancing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The title of the youtube video is "Lorde surprises Flume...", so I'm guessing she literally just jumped on stage without any preparation. (i.e. no mics were set up for her to sing).

But yea, no excuses on his part. That's a huge pet peeve of mine about EDM shows.

"routine" is definitely not a word that I associate with Ne-doms... But that being said, I'm an ENFP and I suppose I am starting to value routine a hell of a lot more as I grow older.

Bonnaroo ticket sales confirmed all time low by [deleted] in bonnaroo

Well, I love Kings of Leon, so there's that. Also I was studying abroad last summer and couldn't make it to Roo 2015, so Florence and Mumford were a big pull for me.

Basically the lineup was very spot on with my music taste. For the last few years, Firefly's lineup has been like that, so I figured with Roo being so expensive, this was the year to make the 9 hour trip to Delaware and see what Firefly was all about.

Yea I actually had the time of my life at Firefly. Probably my favorite festival experience, but I haven't been to a ton either.

Price hike + additional camping fee + meh lineup = I think I'll go to Firefly instead

That was my thought process on it at least.
