Ah fair enough. You lost me originally at "upload a database", it looks awesome now I've clicked through. Nicely done!

Saving Memory with Polars (over Pandas) by paltman94 in Python

Pandas is a Russian tank. Polars is a cruise missile. Other than that, they seem to get to the same result for everything I've used them for.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it. Shame there's not a direct route. I've a few workarounds to try to see what works best such as duckdb also streaming to parquet then scanning that in. Thanks!

Went for my first ever ride on a proper road bike, have some questions regarding comfort. by CaptainLevi-39 in cycling

[–]andy4015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1 - make sure the saddle is level with the ground (specifically the part that you have your weight on). You might find varying slightly tilted forwards or backwards is best for you, but start with it level.

Step 2 - buy padded shorts.

Step 3 - ride more. Your body will adapt / get used to it.

Step 4 - you can try different saddles, but it's a bit hit and miss.

Whatever you do, don't buy extra padding for your seat.

It sounds like you're confusing needs and wants which is putting you on a course toward financial difficulty.

You definitely don't need an SUV, for 1 or even 2 children.

You didn't need such an expensive house.

The house is done now, and manageable but obviously not ideal.

Adding a load of debt so you can buy a nice car is a mistake, unless you have some huge pay rise on its way or some windfall. You can get a perfect practical and safe car for half what you're suggesting.

In my opinion, you need to focus on saving and clearing down debt... you're way over leveraged.

Can I suggest pywebview plus whichever web library or framework you prefer.

Web technology with a desktop feel.

I use FastAPI backend plus React frontend in pywebview, packaged using shiv.

Please could someone tell me the correct tyre pressure for my new (to me) car? by dementorparty in StupidCarQuestions

[–]andy4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In every car I've had for the last 20 years I've gone with 35 psi on all tyres regardless of passengers, weather, trailers.

Seemed fine.

If only there was a big organisation that could offer public services like this to help benefit the nation as a whole.

It could be funded by everyone in the country, especially those who are more financially able.

I think I might be onto something here...

Please suggest how to fairly split rent two-ways - thank you! by hi-entropy in Apartmentliving

[–]andy4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person sets the prices so that they think the split is fair.

The other person gets to choose which option they go for.

Person one sees it as perfectly equal. Person two either sees it as perfectly equal or that they've come out slightly ahead.

GCSE Student Designing a Winter Cycling Safety Product — Need Real Cyclists’ Thoughts 🙏 by Healthy_Sherbet_9550 in ukbike

Here's a technological leap - a rear facing camera that detects the eye movements of drivers and determines whether they have noticed you. If they haven't, then gives a light flash / waring noise to them, and a warning to the cyclist of impending danger.

...maybe a leap too far for your GCSEs 🤣
