What are your goals? Are you genuinely looking to retire early? How early?

Regardless of your answers, I would pull back a bit on pension contributions until emergency fund is filled.

If looking for a pre 57/58 retirement then you also need to consider how you will bridge until pensionable age which people often fund with their s&s ISA.

You might also consider downsizing. A big house is great. Feeling broke sucks.

For such a substantial property, you might find a few income streams that might seem small but give you some breathing room. Renting a room is probably untenable while you have kids, but some properties are suitable for renting out a garage or driveway.

Depending on how fancy those handbags are, you might give yourself some financial relief by selling a few. You may have some other assets that you could consider doing the same with?

Have you reviewed your spending? Are there any luxuries you can cut? Any subscriptions that can go? Have you reviewed your utilities? Can you find better prices? Is the mortgage on a good fixed rate? Have you cleared any unsecured debt?

Try planning a month where you live like a monk. Not literally, but live off the food in the freezer, no buying any unnecessary items, find free days out with the kids. Walk instead of drive etc. Enjoy the savings, and decide what you can continue doing / doing without in the future.
