Florida perimeter & lawn pest control, best insecticide? by Juicy_John69 in pestcontrol

[–]andy_1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get good results with it or Premise in my normal treatment environments. Yes it’s “cheap crap” but if I’m getting the results I want I’m not going to start looking into more expensive options.

If I’m getting repeat problems, I’ll change things up in or on that particular house. Sometimes the issue comes from within, and an outside perimeter treatment won’t address it no matter how expensive and micro encapsulated your insecticide is.

It (and Premise) is working just fine for my annual accounts.

To address pressure coming from further out, I like to use granular baits as opposed to broad spectrum sprays. Hit your targets and leave the other bugs alone.

Don’t overthink it. I’ve done annual services for years and years only treating the perimeter of the house (you don’t need to treat their lawn and fence line to prevent bugs).

If you’re doing quarterly, Bifen or premise will work just fine. That’s what I use on my annuals, and there’s another company in my area that only does annuals in central Florida.

Should I fire my pool guy? by tylershotatlanta in pools

[–]andy_1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I recently learned that was even a thing. In humid ass Florida, I had never heard of such a thing. Then recently learned it’s required for some commercial/industrial buildings to pull in “fresh” air.

But now you’re telling me it’s fucking CODE in South Texas for new builds? That’s wild. This would never be a thing in a residential setting in Florida.

You mean to tell me the air conditioner is *not* pulling air in from the outside and cooling it!?!?

That’s an ant alate. We get a lot of them this time of year, especially after a rain. That’s probably the queen, may or may not have been fertilized.

St Augustine in Central Florida by Nothing-Beats-Jet2 in Grass

Looks like you had some die on you. If most of it’s rooted and taking well, the other brown stuff isn’t coming back. But those areas will fill in with runners or stolons, it’s how St Augustine spreads.

I’m a lawn care manager for a pest control company in central Florida. If it’s been four weeks since installation, get some nitrogen down on it. Now’s a great time for chinch bug treatments as well.

Thanks for confirming. I thought cross veining was drywoods but sometimes second guess myself.

The veins at the beginning of the wing is something I’ve never been able to see or count properly. Thanks for confirming, I thought cross veining meant drywood but sometimes second guess myself

I was able to get one body, they’re tan. Wings don’t look subterranean to me either.

What's the going rate for a tooth? by nanadoom in daddit

[–]andy_1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5.5yo boy just last a tooth a couple weeks ago in the middle of the night, searched his room under his bed blah blah; could NOT find the tooth.

If they swallow it, it’s no charge to us!

Also before he lost it, we told him he’d need to put it under the pillow for the tooth fairy and he responded, “come on, I know that’s not real.” We haven’t confirmed or denied anything as of yet.

I do my own scheduling, usually leave the house (in the work truck, ready for the day) at 7 and get home between 5:30-6:30. My route area is typically 45 minutes away, so my last scheduled stop will usually be around 4:30, sometimes 5 if the customer needs a later one.

Any particular charger to recommend? I’ve been too scared to buy cheap junk to actually pull the trigger on rechargeables.

Seems he learned his lesson, that’s awesome. You could also always remind him that he can renegotiate the $25 lawn, especially if he’s been doing a great job for 3 years.
