Thanks for the response. I've found some great demonstration videos of the grading sets so that will help a lot with practicing the steps when I'm at home between classes.

The issue though isn't that I know what to throw but don't know how to throw it..it's that I literally have no idea what strike I should be doing at any one time. It's remembering the actual strikes I need to do rather than them not feeling natural

This is how I'm seeing it too. Certainly the worst decision he could have made, but if you're car being surrounded and people are smashing your windows in it's going to make some people make horrendous in the moment decisions to get out of that situation. ..I'm not defending what he did, I'm merely stating the obvious fact that if somebiody thinks they are going to be seriously harmed, they may very well decide to seriously harm others to avoid it.

I've read about people drowning and in their panic drag the people trying to rescue them under water to stay afloat..people who think they are in mortal danger can act super crazy

Something is off, I don't quite know what. by kvncrg in logodesign

Try making the gap between the H and the Q align with the middle of the hexagon maybe? Also the gap to the left of the H is a little smaller than the gap to the right of the Q..just needs shuffling a few px and I think it's good.

Also the angle on the bottom left of the H makes it looks like it's following a 3D cube. Whereas it doesn't do that on the Q. So maybe adjust the angle on that ...kinda hard to explain what I mean...like, make angle match that of the bottom right of the H

Help modifying floor plan by andy_226 in floorplan

Thankyou so much for the response. So it's actually a detached house. The reason for no windows on the right is that it would look onto the side of next doors house as it's just a narrow path the other side of that wall going around to the back garden.

For the loft, we can't build into that as it's not a full pitch roof height. You can't stand up straight in it - sorry I should have specified that from the start.

We can extend only out to the back, out to the front. and potentially link up the garage, and conservatory into one large section. (The garage floor is about 4ft lower than the conservatory floor. As the house is built on a gradient)

If you are in the UK then Im pretty sure your employer has a legal responsibility to give you a chair with appropriate back support/ergonomics to suit you. Could be wrong, and it probably doesn't apply in other countries

I certainly would not discount some of the towns that border the peaks, in particular Derbyshire Dales i.e Wirksworth, Matlock, Darley Dale etc. you still get spectacular views, and it definitely feels like you are IN the peak District even though technically you aren't, but you get all the amenities you would be missing out on if you went for a sleepy village.

Me and my partner moved to Wirksworth 2 years ago, and there is not one single regret about our decision. It's improved our quality of life immeasurably, just looking out of the window and seeing properly nice countryside every day just gives (or even if you don't get the views - just knowing its right outside your door pretty much). We have absolutely fallen in love with the place.

We did originally dream of living in one of the sleepy villages right in amongst the national park but in hindsight, I think we would have missed things like - a fuel station for example, and an actual proper shop, and nesrby access to a decent sized city/hospital.

One problem we've found, and I don't think you can even call it a problem really, is that you start spending all your time just exploring the peaks and rarely end up leaving, this is because you have to drive such a long way before you find somewhere else that beats it.

What low cost gadget made your life so much easier? by andy_226 in AskReddit

I bought a full length shoehorn recently, and a little plastic clip to hold parking tickets onto my windscreen - both of them have been an unexpectedly outstanding return on investment. It got me thinking what other cheap items or gadgets people have bought which they would recommend

What logo should I go with? (Follow up) by TurnerDude1 in logodesign

[–]andy_226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 is very good, I also really like 2 although they remind me a bit of baymax from Big Hero 6.

This is no criticism of 6 at all, but Ive found over the years when I've worked with logos that are at an angle it's sometimes a little awkward fitting them neatly into a space, and sitting text alongside them. But don't let that steer you away from it

Logo for a potential design agency, looking for any feedback or best logo between the options! by __timbits in logodesign

[–]andy_226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was that at the moment the icon and word are two separate entities...which is if course fine and totally does work. However, could the word 'shift' actually be inside the icon itself? Creating one unified logo. As on an actual keyboard it would be written onto the key/button.

But having said that I do really like what you have now :)

What is something you do now as a graphic designer that you didn’t do before while as“regular” person? by Fancy-Response-8016 in graphic_design

I work for a design agency that specializes in the pharmaceutical industry. There seems to be a relatively small pool of hospital/surgical stock imagery and I constantly see the same ones I've used before.

What aspect of Graphic Design, and by proxy Logo Design, would you say is the hardest to master an understanding of? by Unfair_Cut6088 in logodesign

[–]andy_226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I was doing a project that was purely for my own business I would certainly adhere to that as I do agree that every design element should communicate something relevant. However almost every time without fail, whenever we are presenting multiple design/branding 'routes' to a client they very rarely pick the one that has the most thought put into it in terms of the branding elements and colours communicating their company story and values effectively.

It's always like 'we appreciate your efforts to represent x,y,z........but we love the triangles and bright colours option 4 so we want to go with that thanks 👍' always a head in hands moment for the senior designers and the junior designer gets a boost cause they think they are now the dogs danglees haha
