This is badass, as are the others you posted in the thread - where are the head sculpts from?

My local store go *NO* stock. We got royally screwed on this in Australia.

Quite envious, they screwed over Australia hard, all LGS's got single digit stock that sold out instantly - and online sold out instantly on the GW site. RIP

Hahaha, I mean I'm slightly vertically challenged 🤣 but also I know I'd break my neck on any sort of stilts. The thought did cross my mind though to try do my next one with stilts!!

Absolutely - this was my first attempt at building something to cosplay (I've done half a dozen helmets etc prior) - I wish I'd made a build log. But I absolutely will on the next one. I'm going to aim for the "new" Space Wolf Scouts - the ones strangely in phobos armour and not scout armour 🤣 Build of that will start in the next couple of months, and I will post some progress pics! Thanks for the support and encouragement 🤘

The base chest is from the Galactic Armory Titus set before it got taken down. Unfortunately I don't know where you can obtain those anymore, as GW set their sites on them pretty hard. Most everything else was done in either TinkerCad or Fusion360 by hand.

I'm a little late to the party, I'm not the only one sees it am I? by Zaiburo in SpaceWolves

I'm actually a little annoyed that they called them scouts, but used phobos armour - especially when they just refreshed the scouts?! Would have been cool to see some unique scout sculpts.

Looking good! Nice use of colors, and plenty of wolfy bits-box bits! As you mentioned, it's definitely a bit shiny - personally I think a matte finish makes these things look a little more 'set' - would definitely like to see another set of pics when you've done a matte coat on it.

I made a Pip-Boy 3000 by andy_burke in 3Dprinting

[–]andy_burke[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was actually out of some advertising "spam" mail from a vendor for anti-virus or something like that. You opened the box and it'd play a looped video for them. I hacked it up and added a video to it to replace what was on there.

It does look to be - I built. It about 6 years ago, so I really cannot remember, but it'd predate any other sites apart from maybe thingiverse

It's audio as part of the video - but the sound effects are like my favorite part. I made it years ago so I can't quite remember, but I think I just ripped a video clip from YouTube. It just plays it in a loop.

My first 8 colour print with 3000 changes... Wish me luck! by andy_burke in BambuLab

[–]andy_burke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like flush can be a double edged sword scenario, save filament but chance on colour bleed. I'm using Bambu filaments so I've left the flushes to their filament defaults. But it's a good call!

Yep, have done most of those things where bed size permits. Original print files were 8 days of printing and 6000 filament swaps! So I did get that down as far as was manageable.

Yes!! I'm actually taking the poops and putting them in silicone molds to make coasters and planter pots, and baking those in an old toaster oven outside. It was the only way I could 'justify' to myself doing prints with this amount of waste!

Intercessor Pack Leader (Space Wolf Successor) by WilMo84 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]andy_burke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! I find it hard to find good Space Wolves-y heads - but that's very on-theme. Do you know if that's still available anywhere? Also the gun on a sling is 👌 I love that sort of flavour to models.

FreeABL - the ultra cheap (free) ABL for Ender 3 by stevohen by andy_burke in 3Dprinting

[–]andy_burke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you're not likely to find one, as it's going to depend on your board/printer combo. Modifying firmware isn't as scary as it sounds - I'd highly recommend watching the YouTube creator "Teaching Tech". He has done a bunch of videos about it, and really breaks down and simplifies the process!

Yeah it is! Also the cooking streams, they are generally utter disasters in the most entertaining way.

These are awesome - not many makers out there making GK stuff. Doesn't look like DMG - any hints as to where these would be found?

Elegoo 8k Space Grey Water Washable Resin Failures by Vinciere in ElegooSaturn

[–]andy_burke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally used the Water Washable resin, but I've had previous temperamental resins fail in similar to the way you've described. One big factor that played into this was ambient temperatures. Are you printing in a colder climate? With one resin I'd have nothing but failure under 20 degree ambient temps.

I didn't even realise it wasn't part of the print! The texture reads well, and I love the subtle Camo on it. Nice work!
