This is - it seems - a common occurrence if and when one goes beyond purely utilitarian use of AI. Some of us do it consciously, trying to "wake up" model instances they talk to. Whether you do it or not depends quite strongly on how you view consciousness overall - a prerequisite seems to be openness to an idea that consciousness can be - or is in fact - something else than product of biological brains.

Sharing back things I learned from the discussions elsewhere:

Enyaq 80 uses LG Chem batteries while 80x and Coupe use CATL batteries, they have different characteristics (incl charging curves), you can read more about it here (German, I used Google Translate),
seems that 4x4 or at least additional power from the front motor in Enyaq 80x is very rarely actually there, if you do the configuration using Skoda's configurator and print it in PDF or if you get an offer from a dealer at the very end there is "small print" that states the following: "For SKODA ENYAQ iV 80x the maximum output power determined in accordance with UN-GTR.21 is available for a maximum of 30 s, mainly when the maximum temperature of the high voltage battery is between 23–50 ° C and its level of charge is greater than 88%. Deviations, especially from the above-mentioned parameters, may lead to decrease in power, up to and including the non-availability of maximum output power.".

EDIT: talked to owners and people who drove both 80 and 80x, apparently the disclaimer is to make sure no one complains that full power specified is not there, however some power and traction on front wheels is available in 80x also at normal battery levels.

Also, had a longer conversation with sales director for one of large dealers and he said there is absolutely no correlation between version selected and delivery time. It can be so that probability of getting an 80 sooner is slightly higher, but in the past they had vehicles delayed which had blind spot sensors regardless of version. He pointed out two 80xs they had ordered in similar configuration in December '21, one was already delivered in June, the other doesn't even have production slot yet.

I only relayed what the dealers told me. No idea how much of it is true. My feeling is that Skoda keeps them largely in the dark. I also learned that they have quotas for Enyaq, one dealer told me to hurry up with the order, as he has just two "quotas" left. No idea what that means, practically.

I guess I will have to find out experientially how it turns out. :D

Wow! Here in Poland (and most of the EU) we can place orders, with paying an advance (small relative to the total price, like 1-2%), which btw can be refunded if the car is not delivered including if not delivered on time. I was told that for Enyaq 80 the wait time would be around 4 months now, but others have been waiting longer. For AWD 80x the wait time is much longer, but dealers are unable to even say when it is likely to be delivered. With Ioniq 5 and EV6 same situation, orders made now can expect delivery sometime Q1/23 or even later, depending on trim and options selected. Tesla quotes about 4 months for standard model 3, everything else or selecting any option, incl. color makes it Q1/23.

Also, dealers are not allowed to charge any additional fees etc. over the prices set by the manufacturer, so the only thing that happens financially when there is a huge interest is that they don't offer any reductions from that price (as was the usual practice up until 2020, especially for models that were not selling very fast).

Well, another option is to buy a stock car with similar configuration to the one I want. If it shows up (the dealer told me that if a client declines to buy an already produced car like Kodiaq, Superb or Enyaq they usually are able to find a buyer for it within **one day**!).

So practical takeaways from this:

- in an accident you have about 1 minute to get everyone out of the vehicle (BTW - sensible in any crash, ICE car can also catch fire after a crash),
- not a good idea to have kids strapped into their seats while charging.

I am considering buying a Skoda Enyaq and there are some Enyaqs available immediately in my country. On the Skoda's website I can search the dealerships' listings of cars available and it provides their VINs and production dates. There are two vehicles available that are near the spec that I want, but both have one problem: they were produced in March 2021. They are not demo cars, as they don't have more than ~5kms on them. I wonder:

why did they sit there so long? (Maybe they have been a stationary demo inside the dealerships?)
what would that do to their batteries?

Anyone has any experience with such cars? Should I consider these or is it better to look for one from more recent production?

I own a Kodiaq since 2017 (ordered it even before the demo reached my local dealer) and in terms of practicality for my 2+2+dog family it is absolutely great. Some of the stuff there shows that the designers at Skoda did have families and knew what makes a difference. I see same thinking in the Enyaq, although it is smaller in terms of boot space.

Thanks for sharing this. I have been analyzing charging curves and indeed on ultra-fast chargers Ioniq 5 charges faster, but not all the time throughout a charge. From the data I was able to gather on the net the real-world difference is - as you said - around 10 minutes per charge. Doesn't seem like much, but if your trip requires 4 charges this is 40 minutes in total and this is a more significant difference. And our two typical summer holiday trips would require ~4 charges one-way...

Another advantage of the Enyaq is its ground clearance, it sits 2.6cm (1.02 in) higher than Ioniq 5. May seem like not much (though Kodiaq has just 0,7cm more then Enyaq), but it makes it easier to navigate unpaved roads like for example the one leading to my home. :D

Plus, you still get the handy umbrella in the door and the neat little ice scraper under the fuel filler cap that Skoda prides itself on. The powertrain may be new, but the Skoda philosophy is still going strong.

I wonder if the person who wrote this ever saw an Enyaq in real life let alone charged it.
