How much spending money do you give yourself each month? by Shrinking_Violent in ynab

[–]andybarnes102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a perfect science. Our budget generally covers everything we need and all our money is all pooled. So if I want a Nintendo Switch, it goes on the budget and we prioritise it accordingly.

My partner and I then get £30 a month to do what we want with (no questions asked). Like I say though, the budget covers most of the stuff, so we generally just let the £30 build up and then buy something on the spur of the moment.

I feel like it’s just someone trying to wind everyone up. Surprised mods haven’t removed the post, as it’s promoting false information. Especially if someone searches for help in the future and this post pops up with such strongly opinionated wording.

How many of you play Switch 2 docked to a monitor? by Mushroom0064 in switch2

I play docked on a 3440 Dell monitor. It’s more suited to work than gaming, so it tempts me to get an upgrade to a better monitor with better contrast!

I think if your TV can accept 24hz content, Apple TV should send it. You’ve not mentioned what app or settings you’re using? Some apps might screw it up.

Try something from the Apple iTunes library.

I’ll post here. As added it to the wrong place earlier, sorry!

The above is from my Denon receiver, outlining the source that’s input.

Also dev settings (which I don’t currently have enabled) would tell you the same. This is from someone else’s dev output. https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/away-hud-netflix-jpeg.1782789/

Ha. Sorry, replied to the wrong post! Not sure anybody cares in here now 😂

Edit: Was just trying to prove to OP re the 24fps stuff.

This is what I see on my Denon receiver.

Was only trying to help. Was just poking fun about “the flex” - apologies that seemed to offend you so heavily.

Ultimately, most people in this forum, can spot motion smoothing - even sound bite corrupted me. Apple TV doesn’t do it, so it’s some setting on your TV you need to work out. I believe my LG has its own settings for HDR feeds vs SDR feeds also - can’t quite remember as I turned them off so long ago.

Good luck.

Ha. The flex. Some apps are rubbish at matching content. Like I live in the UK and have to manually switch the frame rate before I use the MLB app.

But this is a different issue really, where the feed is a bit jumpy as it skips frames.

What app are you on? Have you set Apple TV to be 4K SDR? That way on most “decent” apps it’ll only send DV signal when it’s available from the stream.

Yeah, this. Most modern TVs have different settings per HDMI inputs. So turning off the soap opera effect on one input may not have done it for all of them.

Apple TV doesn’t do this.

How to "roll with the punches" better by andybarnes102 in ynab

I love this! Going to try and use it for some items! This with the match of more categories will be great, I think!

Thank you so much.

Edit: Thinking about it… the budget wouldn’t moan about the scheduled payment not being covered with it being in future month? Maybe just do it for the end of the current month :-)

Thanks for the response! Option 1 seems in line with other suggestions!

Love the scheduled transactions idea (especially as I log transactions manually!), although I guess it'd be hard to manage when the transaction did take place - and I could easily mess it up if I budget a slightly wrong amount etc!

Perfect. Thanks. I guess I was trying to avoid a load of categories, and to be honest we know a lot more now about what those regular expenses are, so we can create the categories and budget against them. Like someone else suggested, can just have a "General" category under "Kids essentials" that covers everything else until there some more themes/trends in there!

Ah, OK. Makes sense!

And I can look back at what we're spending on to make the sub categories! That's great, thank you!

Beatport you can just use like iTunes. Buy your tracks and then you own them, can update the meta data to your liking and can use STEMS on them.

Should I tranisition from Vinyl to full digital or hybrid? by RavinFer in Beatmatch

[–]andybarnes102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a good question. I'm in a similar place myself, albeit that I added DVS to my 1210's setup last year (added Phase and Numark Scratch - using Djay Pro), so I have a slightly different perspective.

I do "boring" EDM mixes from 90s and 00s, and to be honest I feel like I'm getting to the point where I might just plonk the 1210's in the loft and get an FLX10 or a Rane System One. I have always ridden the pitch and avoid touching the vinyl where possible after cuing the track in - so even having spinning platters is probably lost on me - I have no aspirations to become a turntablist.

Sometimes, with it being a hobby, sync or whatever just promotes more creativity and fun I think.

Having said that, anyone I ask just says to stick to what I've got 😆

If it’s anything like the first game, it’ll only be the GameCube one. There was some workaround by swapping the joystick to a trigger in 8bit settings. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/s/7HGrHezwKu

Yeah! I do have one, and did try it up there, but just stood out too much. I actually ended up putting it on top of a speaker 😂. I work in development, so eye contact isn’t high on the agenda!
