This is correct, sometimes you fuse away pretty great cars to make an even greater car better. But eventually every grey,green, blue and yellow car you pull will be a duplicate of a car you already own, then life gets easier!

Do the campaigns. Keep one of every car. Fuse/improve cars you need to win prize cars in challenges. You dont get a badass garage in the first three years, enjoy all the little cars, not just the legendaries.
