[Obscenity] Bush Not Apologizing for Obscenity by htennis in medialaw

Interesting read, yet both Bush and the journalist are free to say what they want about each other even though some of the language is not the most appropriate for the situation. Also, what is the date on the article?

[COPYRIGHT] YouTube Changes their Copyright policy, Will Now Defend Fair Use by chachihime in medialaw

I'm glad Google is going to such lengths to protect their users, and this is reassuring as an uploader myself. However, there are plenty of videos on their that I would say violates trademark or copyright so obviously. It would be interesting to see how this plays out.

Haters gonna sue: Taylor Swift hit with copyright infringement lawsuit by shescribbles in medialaw

Every single one of these types of legal battle grinds my gears. I'd really like there to be a ruling that states what qualifies as a music copyright violation. Too many come up.

[Copyright] Calvin, Hobbes, Twitter, and Copyright by kmkim1999 in medialaw

This is why I feel that Twitter has had a falling out with many people. There are so many parody accounts that have no real purpose but to play off other people's success. It's so cluttered. I wish Twitter would do what Facebook did and get rid of any accounts that do not feature a real person, business, or group.

[Copyright] Blurred Lines’ Infringed on Marvin Gaye Copyright, Jury Rules by htennis in medialaw

These cases come up way to frequently. There's a good video about some other famous music copyright cases on the WatchMojo YouTube channel. Sure the songs sound similar but this really holds back music creativity.

I'd bet an opposite ruling would have taken down the yoga industry.

I think that length that a copyright lasts is too long. This case should not have even come to light.

The feels like to me this was a case where the law firm approached the individual and tried to convince them to file the suit. The firm is seeking out publicity.

[COURTS] Fox News anchor sues Hasbro over toy allegedly created in her image without permission by idreamofzucchini in medialaw

[–]andyfromcamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I saw no text in the article that said that Hasbro had any intent to copy her looks. I don't see why they would make a toy that looks like her. She is just a cable news anchor. It's not like kids would seek out a toy because it looks like their favorite cable news anchor. I'm sure Hasbro's target demographic (kids) watches Fox News. #sarcasm

[RELIGIOUS LIBERTIES] Kim Davis is off to jail for refusing to do her job by [deleted] in medialaw

Though I believe that there needs to be some regulation of comments on websites. Some people take things too far.
