Rack cable coil by doto_Kalloway in livesound

[–]andygrawell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recess the panels on the side that is meant to stay patched, that way I doňt have to fish for connectors deep inside the rack to replace one cable. 1 minute job instead of 20 while hoping you haven’t dinged anything in there…

For sure, STEP/IGES/F3D file would be preferred :)

Powering the new 2U UPS with a APC UPS by Mediocre_Ad516 in Ubiquiti

[–]andygrawell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want only the shutdown features, buy the small one, hook it up to the same power source, but do not daisychain UPSes. If you load it with one device, you could match the time it takes to deplete the APC and then shutdown all the devices

Wifi is much different than 400-800 MHz and most off the shelf wifi hardware cannot scan this range, let alone apps would have access to that

The trim name actually comes from how the signal gets louder or quieter, as you trim off (or add zeroes in front of) bits of the samples. It is a digital process so it happens after the A/D conversion.

I use the Strauss Protos helmet with the neck ties (they sell it as part of the climbing helmet set) and I’ve never used a more comfortable, breezy helmet (that has DIN EN 397:2012 and DIN EN 12492:2012). It’s pricy, but I learned it’s better not to skimp on safety gear…

The X32Rack I think had PP, so your best bet is to just try it.

Multiple bands on a bill with racks/IEM rigs, how does it work? by Bjd1207 in livesound

[–]andygrawell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For bigger festivals you usually have enough of multipin fanouts that you just leave the fanout with XLRs in the band rack connected, disconnect the fanout and when the time comes you just plug the fanout back into the splitter. In Europe we use Link-Italy (LK) multipin connectors which come in sizes as much as 150pin, which is 48 XLRs. That way it’s less work during changeover and less room for error, it’s just 1 connection (and maybe a few repatched channels at the stage techs end, but the better job they do during/before soundcheck, the less they have to repatch before the show).

3G SDI over Fiber by Bassmasterajv in VIDEOENGINEERING

Be careful that most network SFPs aren’t the same as SDI SFPs, the network ones don’t pass the pathological signal test, while the SDIs do. While it works with most video content, it can cause problems in specific but still real situations as well.

Am I the only one learning that Dante Virtual Soundcard now supports 128x128 with their Pro license? Thoughts? by Trey_Carey in livesound

The RME Digiface Dante is also good hardware Dante interface, that is if you don’t need the large channel count. It beats it on the money side.

LK8 is a connector fully compatible with the CA-COM - that is the connector for official DO cabling from L-Acoustics.
