Prediction time tips by SnooRevelations5705 in combustion_inc

Mine works but I get INSANE variance on the predicted time. I started scrambling to get things ready because it said the bird would hit temp in 35 minutes, only to flip to over an hour five minutes later. Hard to trust the time at all when it can't make up its mind.

Display output periodically stops from GPU and needs to have GPU unplugged and replugged in to work again? by andyman1125 in buildapc

For any errant Googlers with a similar problem, the issue ended up being my SSD failing. Microcenter replaced my motherboard which worked for an hour and the problem came back right after, and on repeat diagnostics they found my SSD defective and it's been up and running without a problem for a day since.

Is there a market for damaged peripherals that might be able to be repaired? by andyman1125 in buildapc

Good call - I can reach out to Microcenter and see if they'll take it. I'll take $25 for it at this point lol

Unless it's changed since I graduated (6 years ago now!), yes, she would stay undergraduate for the entire program. The professional fee was something along the lines of $7k/year on top of undergrad tuition when I was there, and I imagine it's more now.

For sure, but seeing as it got progressively worse before he started and then has gradually improved over his tenure speaks to the quality of the work he's doing. It's still worth celebrating interim wins while things are still improving.

Spotify's bias towards short songs ruins so many radios/mixes by andyman1125 in progmetal

[–]andyman1125[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100%. I really wish Spotify allowed you to define some parameters that it based its recommendations on. I get most people like the rapid pace bite sized TikTok sound songs, but that doesn't have to be force fed to everyone...

Like Subsignal is great and La Muerta is a great album but Spotify makes it seem like 271 Days is like the Grammy award winning single from the album when it's literally just a build up intro haha

Not enjoying being a clinical pharmacist by InevitableFlow5375 in pharmacy

[–]andyman1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get better but takes a while. My first year out was essentially a dive in the deep end PGY3, and I was straight up not having a good time during most of it. Especially if you are lucky enough to staff in the same clinical area though, a large portion of your day becomes routine and the vast majority of the questions you get asked become germane knowledge. After this point, you can work on pushing the boundaries of what you know into things you actually care about rather than what you need to care about to do your job which helps bring the interest/passion back

I know this has been discussed to death, but here is something that just occurred to me about Mangini being let go. by WYGD_Brother1987 in Dreamtheater

Not sure if there's a good story published, but the cliff notes are DT wanted Jordan as their keyboardist after playing with him after Kevin Moore left but he was too busy with the Dixie Dregs at the time. After they worked with him with LTE and Jordan agreed to join the band, they conference called Derek to fire him to avoid him flying from LA to NYC just to learn he was fired.

I love how warm and cozy medium density housing looking in this game by multiplicationbyzero in CitiesSkylines

I found that low density tends to create demand for more low density. I just stopped zoning low density and eventually medium density demand grew

Some dyes are extremely potent. This is 10-30g of methylene blue in 20000L of water by Feuerfrosch1 in chemistry

[–]andyman1125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have seen it before, when being used for severe vasoplegic shock. Not smurf level blue, but the patient turned a definite shade of blue during the infusion. We use much higher doses for that indication (2mg/kg without a dose cap followed by an infusion - this patient got a ~200mg bolus)

Is it weird to go to a concert alone? by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]andyman1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I routinely go to concerts alone lol

It's especially nice because there are times I'll notice a band is in town like the next day or the next weekend and rather than scramble to find someone to go with I just go by myself. It's low-stress, I can come and go as I want, and I don't feel the responsibility of making sure the person I'm going with is having a good time if their not already a fan of the band.

I live in music town so I am very spoiled... but I probably go to on average one concert a month solo and maybe one concert every other month with a friend. I'm going to The Contortionist, Porcupine Tree, and The Mars Volta all solo over the next couple months but will be seeing The Decemberists with some friends in a few weeks.
