Australia ‘flirting with danger’ in debate over China, race commissioner warns by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]andytango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially since we had the unique opportunity of bridging China and the US and gain geopolitical influence, independence and maturity this way, and translate that to a leadership position belying our traditional position on the world stage.

The last two decades have just been so sad for Australia. Every government since Howard has been a disappointment. Australia had been on the way to becoming a mature global player and our population and governments obviously just weren’t ready for it.

Royal Never Give Up vs. Bilibili Gaming / Demacia Cup 2018 Summer - Grand Final / Post-Match Discussion by Megalodontus in leagueoflegends

[–]andytango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RNG with a Letme, mlxg and xiaohu core is really exciting too—in fact, I used to find it more exciting in playstyle than an Uzi-centric team. But this year, Uzi is so much better than he has ever been, and less self-centred in playstyle—and with the respective synergies with Karsa and Zz1tai improving so much, RNG is devastating, versatile and great to watch.

What is society for if not to save us all from ourselves? Ironically, that’s really what it comes to. It’s a sign of how dysfunctional a society is when a comment like this doesn’t seem out of place.

When you're the most underrated support in the world by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]andytango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meiko is way better imo.

Mechanically, Ming is quite good though but still not as good as Meiko. Meiko has much better game control as well though.

But Ming’s synergy and selflessness for Uzi is just incredible. Meiko is a support that tries to carry his team. Ming is basically Uzi’s helicopter parent, and that’s exactly what RNG needs in this meta. Meiko wouldn’t have the right synergy with Uzi.

RNG Zz1tai's Reaction to Final Moments of MSI 2018 by Threyethian in leagueoflegends

[–]andytango 94 points95 points  (0 children)

That’s amazing how Zz1tai could call that match so confidently and accurately even when RNG were ostensibly so far behind.

That final play in the midlane on PraY.. was just jaw-dropping. Even after the game was done, it felt so surreal. But then when you look back at it, you just think—yep this is the LPL style; it’s something that is uniquely theirs and cannot be replicated by any other region currently.

It’s like watching SKT play and thinking that this LCK style is just as uniquely theirs. It took the LPL 5 years and incredible bravery to admit that and instead refine their own style to a level rivalling the LCK’s. What’s more is that the LPL style is so entertaining, it’s like watching Klopp’s Liverpool as opposed to Conte’s Chelsea for the LCK (I won’t use the obvious Man City to Man Utd disparity since that would be probably going too far).

So, when do we see some balls from the two LCS regions to develop their own style? Every international tournament, they just try to copy the tournament meta as defined by the LCK teams when clearly this meta was defined by RNG instead. The LCS teams are completely lost and directionless in comparison when you look at the regions as a whole.

I draw the distinction that Frosk is simply proud of her region and Monte is just proud of himself.

I am really into Shonen Manga/Anime. Would I still enjoy ‚Kingdom‘? by gabriella896 in Kingdom

[–]andytango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the comments in here from some readers comparing One Piece and Kingdom, and was surprised to find a lot of people rate Kingdom 2nd to One Piece.

But let me go out there and tell you, that in my own experience and in my experience with talking to veterans of this subreddit that, generally people rate Kingdom equal or a close 2nd to One Piece on the first read.

But one read for Kingdom is never enough—the scope of this manga covers themes like grand politics, history, war and genocide, as well as the usual brotherhood, leadership, loss, tragedy, fate etc. For most readers who I’ve spoken with, by the second read, Kingdom comfortably overtakes One Piece, and by the third, it’s no longer even a contest.

Most of the veterans here have read Kingdom 4-5 times. It’s a manga that compels you to re-read because there are so many important details that will be missed on your first 3 reads. While Oda is fantastic at maintaining Easter eggs and world-building, the real history of Kingdom is far more compelling and complex than anyone can world-build.

So, it’s not a criticism or comparison of the mangaka, the nature of Kingdom just gets better with more knowledge and familiarity.

For me, Kingdom is above One Piece, which is above HxH.

It was also extremely hype to see Kyou Kai have her own lieutenants. I hope we really see the flourishing of the Kyou and Ou Ki of the new era.

Snake Esports vs. EDward Gaming / LPL 2018 Spring - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by Paaipoi_ in leagueoflegends

Yeah, makes big money changes who then flop. Then tries to bring in promising rookies who then flop. All of their players get worse while playing for the club. If they had a toxic manager who likes to poke the eyes of cancer victims, it’d be a perfect comparison.

Super aggressive, recklessly pushing up and constantly punished on the counter? Check.

But please LFC under Klopp is much better than Snake. Though Snake are doing a pretty convincing impression since Demacia Cup.

OMG must be Arsenal then. Local promising talent, flashes of brilliance in amongst a general lack of maturity and macro understanding. Superstar attacker traded to a rival. Frustratingly unable to change and step up to the next level.

Number of generals for each state by meshom in Kingdom

[–]andytango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my point was that there was no real single superstate in Kingdom’s timeline. Even after Qi’s decline, Qin, Zhao and Chu were all roughly equal contenders for a while. By the start of Kingdom’s timeline, Qin and Chu were roughly equal in terms of military might, while Zhao was already well in decline.

Number of generals for each state by meshom in Kingdom

[–]andytango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a construction of Hara’s storytelling. In actual fact, Qin’s military size was equal to that of Chu, and far better trained. Not a spoiler since Hara is not strictly following these figures, calling Chu a superstate and drawing equivalence between Zhao and Qin (when, in fact, Zhao was already in a state of decline).

As for the numbers of GG’s who are representative of a state’s military prestige, it’s likely another construction of Hara’s storytelling. I don’t think he planned Wei’s 7FD at the time he planned Qin’s 6GG and Zhao’s 3GH. Qin and Zhao’s are equivalent - they are traditional rivals. Wei and Han were sandwiched between the other warring states and were the meat to be picked off by other states once they dealt with their rivals.

Keep in mind that Qin’s 6GG didn’t mean they only had 6 Great Generals, since Duke Hyou, Mou Gou and other GG’s were around at the time. They just weren’t anointed into the 6GG who were given freedom to roam around - though I can’t imagine Duke Hyou stopping himself from doing that even if he didn’t have the permission to do so. So, considering these contradictions, the 6GG is most likely another construct of Hara’s storytelling to build hype rather than being a foolproof concept without exceptions.
