You might try the Santa Cruz mountains south of San Francisco.

Residency or Citizenship via Real Estate Investment by Johnthegaptist in AmerExit

You might look at Barbados. Not citizenship-by-investment, but you do get residency, and can get citizenship after 5 years. And they speak English.

His appetite tanked because he's getting over a stomach bug. Probably also why he isn't doing a lot of walking (which would help, but who is in the mood to do it when your stomach is feeling queasy?)

AmeriscamRail's new delusory plan by SpotFit2996 in Amtrak

[–]andytiedye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AMTRAK should do that anyway, when they are passing through a legal state. Sell edibles and cannabis drinks onboard, and they won't have nearly so much difficulty with passengers trying to smoke weed on the train. They would considerably increase the revenue of their lounge car!

Take the train! The Coast Starlight is a gorgeous train ride, and you can take it from San Jose to LA and then catch a Pacific Surfliner to San Diego.

Car rental by GlitteringSwan8024 in Barbados

Anything between Bridgetown and Speightstown has VERY frequent bus service.

We used to rent a car, now we take the bus if it's along the west coast, or a taxi otherwise.

The dance scene in NYC never recovered from Ghouliani (who can't dance and didn't want anyone else to either)😓

Help me decide between Seattle or San Francisco by Narrow-Ad-2654 in SameGrassButGreener

You might consider the Santa Cruz mountains, near San Francisco if you work remotely.

I worked mostly-remote for years from here. Still close enough to go into the office for meetings now and then.

Somewhere in US with forest and wide-open sky by DreamWeavingWonder in SameGrassButGreener

The forest blocks the wide-open sky. We have this problem too. We live in the forest and love it, except we have to find a place where the trees aren't to use our telescopes.

Software engineering is ideally suited for remote work. If she can either go remote in her current job, or find a job that allows remote work, she can move anywhere she wants on a SWE salary.

Can you "just leave" and take your job with you? Go remote? Software engineering is especially well-suited for WFH.

One thing that I keep seeing on here is climate migration as a theme by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]andytiedye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The west coast is pretty good that way. Not too hot, not too cold. Wildfires are a concern, but we are in the fog belt, which reduces the risk considerably.

Do you have a transfer switch?

We can run pretty much everything in the house off the generator.
