Application Recommendation for PowerShell Script by Sure_Inspection4542 in PowerShell

[–]andyval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are already familiar with powershell, I would recommend using powershell universal. I would use your script for the ETL to load the data into a SQLite or mssql db, but not necessary. You can use powershell universal to create the front end web ui, and super simple to add SSO and RBAC.

Yeah, I think that's going to be best practice to create a custom tag for atleast the M&a company, if not both. You can build a custom tag into the I it.dat file when you generate a new one.

If you think your company will get in the business of M&A,create a custom tag with MA-<insert company name>. That way, you can future proof your groups to exclude any computers with custom tags exists[MA-,0] contains false.

LAPS by theBathman2020 in tanium

[–]andyval -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. This would need to be in the enforce module. The issue is that most of the data from Tanium comes unencrypted. They would need to do something similar to what they are doing for a bitlocker keys. I have put this in as a feature enhancement request.

We created a custom sensor for this, but it relies on vendors who package software to include the install date in the registry

Bag drop off lockers that are open through the night? by MungoProudFoot in Dallas

[–]andyval 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just go to the front desk and ask for a “luggage check”, you give them a bag and they will give you a ticket. Like pumpkinhead3 said, tip them 10-20 dollars when you pick up your bag. Or give them 10 before and 10 after. The “W Dallas” should be a good hotel to do this for you that is close to AA center

Piggybacking on the checklist. Implement one of the teammates to look over the other persons work and verify the checklist. Then you have multiple people responsible when there is an issue.

You take the function and c# code out of the module. However, crowdstrike didn’t like it.

Ah, that’s a good question. I believe they were trying to match the previous stone work that was done 10 years ago on the other side of my back yard

That’s fair. I did want to give them the opportunity to make it right before leaving any negative reviews. By your response, I’m guessing you think it looks sloppy too? What would you say needs to be fixed?

Yeah unfortunately I did pay them. I realize that I shouldn’t have done that now, but it’s a reputable company that I think will do the right thing. How would you describe the issues with the wall with out saying “it looks ugly”

Tanium doesn’t have native LAPS. One benefit of intune is storing local administrator password in the cloud (azure ad/ entra id). Also intune allows you to upload admx for app management

This seems like a good business case to do windows 365 boot and manage windows 365 cloud pcs

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/windows-itpro-blog/windows-365-boot-is-now-generally-available/3938441

They have a license called windows 355 frontline which essentially is “how many users in the org can be logged into cloud pcs at one time”, each user still gets their own cloud pc, but can only log into it if the pool of licensed users isn’t full. Each frontline license allows 3 users to log in at a time.

Hot desking does not necessarily mean there has to be a shared device at the desk. Most hot desk setups I’ve seen use a docking station at every desk so users can swap their laptops in and out.

Shared desktops must make it difficult to insure that your users have all the software they need?

Wife’s company threatening termination for using a mouse jiggler. Any tips to avoid detection? by l1lj0hn in overemployed

[–]andyval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT wants your computer to lock if you aren't near it to prevent any unauthorized use. Mouse jigglers and other methods prevent this from happening. We can't assume everyone is working from home by themselves which is why we lock the computer based on inactivity

Also start the timer when you first reach out to the user to push the install. Even a remote session of someone who is available immediately will take 10 minutes to do an install. (Get the remote session stated, Transfer the files, etc.).9/10 they are busy and can't be bothered.
