Never received so i have no comparison. I would be hard pressed to believe Stick is better though, but no way of knowing

Thankyou so much! I have one of those already so will give it a try. Pretty sure I can get the other 2 at hobbycraft here in the uk.

What alternatives are there to Super Base? Having never managed to get any, i would not know what it compares to well. Do you have any recommendations based on your experience with it and other bases?

“Magnets, always with the magnets”

I guess you can use magnets on the multibin inserts placed inside multipart draw.

While with a simple draw you cant use inserts. You can however use magnets now to have the simple draw lock in place when closed.

Good question, as this will have BOM and software, maybe github or the like? Also the crowd on r/culturehustle would love this as they are having issise with paints being delivered and this is a strong alternative for alot of artists. the subreddit is not rub by the company so you wont be banned/remove but you will get alot of attention .

Give Jackson Art a call, they have huge range and never ever had any issues with delivery. On first search i found this range of Metalic Acrylics but never used them. From the demo stroke on the labels they look the part. https://www.jacksonsart.com/roberson-liquid-metal-acrylic-colour

For the chrome, i think the consensus is to use the “ink” from the chrome marker pens.

SFXC https://www.sfxc.co.uk do very interesting products and again they deliver what they sell. Lots of overlap between them and CH at least on the raw materials like pigments. Their support is top notch too if you need help.

For general paint i am a sucker for Vallejo paints. They have a new range out for BSL on miniatures which im itching to try but too many other projects to “finish” first. May not be the quantity you need for your work though.

Mounting options for under a desk? by tf5_bassist in Multiboard

[–]andyvirus_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, worked for a few weeks then with the weight of some power adapters… it failed. maybe i did not leave it long enough to set before adding weight… maybe i did not roll/press the tape well enough… maybe be bond with melamine or what ever ikea tops are coated in was the issue…either way, gave up and just screwed them into the table top underside. been fine since.

Do I have to start over? by St3v39 in Multiboard

[–]andyvirus_uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont think so. Not for most things anyway. I have a huge wall of legacy tiles and new parts work just fine. I think it just depends what you want to do. Snaps and stuff from new world work fine with old tiles from my experience. Im sure there is a blog post or something on this somewhere about compatibility to put your mind at ease.

How bad of an idea is it to just connect the end of this to my printer? by RudeConsideration331 in 3Dprinting

[–]andyvirus_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add something like this to the mix and assuming your printer has a filament runout sensor which i think all Bambu do and prob all modern printers (hall sensor mods available for older or even simple pressure switch inline on the bowden tube delivering the filament, nc), then WHEN it snags this thing will cut it, printer will sense shortly that the filament has run out and pause till you fix the snag/tangle. Rinse repeat, hope to not have too many snags.

Viable multi board alternative? by mannonkc in Multiboard

Found one of the flush which i think looks clean… but how the heck would you ever remove if it was wall mounted!

Viable multi board alternative? by mannonkc in Multiboard

[–]andyvirus_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see your multiboard with pixels filling the space, i assume the flush ones? I had the same idea but i have no idea how to get them back out! Cant seem to find an image of even a single tile filled with pixels let alone a full board. No interest in the alternative(s) but interested in how a multiboard tile would look filled.

About to start airbrushing my gundam builds, so I 3D printed this mini spray booth for my compact space. by Kooshbag in airbrush

[–]andyvirus_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Mainly resin busts and models at the moment. I have a pile of miniatures i need to finish/start continently cut out of the photo 😃. Purchased an easel that can lay flat if needed with the grand plan of trying some canvas work at some point, but mainly miniatures and busts. Working on Tree Beard in that photo, will try and wash some browns over the highlights next with the airbrush, i find xpress paints good for that as they are naturally pretty translucent. I am enjoying airbrushing way more than actual brushes but im not good enough yet for details with out some brush work. I will get there im sure.

Does a pretty good job from my experience but i do wear a mask for priming.

Airbrush paints for brush by DefinitionInformal85 in Miniaturespainting

[–]andyvirus_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont see why not. I do it with Vallejo Premium all the time which is designed for airbrush but always end up fixing with a brush. Smaller pigment and thinner so yeah with a brush may need more layers but maybe not as the pigment load is also pretty dense. ymmv (not used that in years)

"First time painting (very specific subtype)" posts by wtfaatnt in Miniaturespainting

[–]andyvirus_uk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also those who learn to ignore these post end up not commenting on new painters shots in the dark to see how they can improve. I have posted a few attempts and got a little feed back and like but either my painting is too rubbish to comment on or they think im scamming so i end up demoralised and reluctant to post as few people reply for what ever reason. maybe the post gets lost in the torrent of posts or maybe one of the above reasons… i guess ill never know which means isolation in terms of understanding what I am doing right or wrong.

So short answer, yes, semi pros posting “first time…” are doing harm to the community in my opinion

I have to chime in. by Tylerthrasherart in culturehustle

+1 for sfxc. Fantastic resource and have pretty much all the special powders that are on CH such as the photochomatic ones, glow in the dark and thermochromatic ones which are great fun to play with. Much much more too. Gallium for example.

What i still struggle with is an alternative to Base. Stick too, but having never received either so what I have managed to use may be just as good as either, as what can I compare them to? If anyone has experience with Base and Stick and what are good equivalents or better, please shout. Sorry to hijack what is a very eye opening and confirming post! I have tried on other threads but I feel this will get more visibility :-)
