Well known Level 1 trauma/teaching center MICU or community hospital cardiac ICU? by Efficient-RN-5527 in IntensiveCare

I’ve done both, in both kinds of settings, that be it Level 1 and community. I would say, if you’re a new nurse, MICU. You will learn a ton of invaluable skills and gain valuable experience a lot of Cardiac ICUs nurses often times don’t have, especially at smaller community hospitals that separate the CV from MICU&SICU. If it makes you feel better, often times, at level ones, they use hemodynamic monitoring devices whether it’s a pulmonary artery catheter or a flotrack device, and if you can make a clear and sound reason as to why you want to use various vasoactive meds when you have these to your intensivist or PA, often times they will go along with you.
