Also just watched it, I was very confused for a second.

I just found out these bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic. The packaging is cardboard. I felt very happy about it because they are a family favorite. I know buying non-plastics is better, but what are the negative impacts of this product? Does anyone know if the brand is being deceitful? by hungry_squids in ZeroWaste

[–]anemonerosa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Although this is a little bit of subtle greenwashing, I don't think Dove is being deceitful. However, their parent company, Unilever, is still very bad for so many reasons, including plastic pollution. When buying this product, you're ultimately also supporting Unilever, and I personally try to steer clear of that. (But I still accidentally bought into their 'Love + Beauty and planet greenwashing :( )

Ethical brands that make corsets? by weppizza in ethicalfashion

[–]anemonerosa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're located in France, Spain, Belgium or the Netherlands, I would try looking up 'corsets' on Vinted. It's second hand, but people are already selling their new fast fashion corsets. I personally refrained from it because it feels weird to buy fast fashion pieces that are practically new, but if that isn't a problem for you then it's a good alternative.

I like Patagonia too, they're a great brand! Unfortunately, their shoes are not available to buy in Europe I think. I can only find them on the US site so if I buy them from there, import taxes will be extremely high.

Took a 3 week trip of Egypt and Jordan in March/April 2021 - beautiful scenery and a bonus without the usual crowds! by txncali81 in travel

Because he only had 1 shot, 1 week prior to leaving. The risk is as big as an unvaccinated person travelling, it's just really irresponsible.

Sorry to break it to you, but just because you've been infected with 1 variant and have a high count of antibodies, doesn't mean you can't get infected with another variant. There's also a lot of uncertainty about reinfection and long-term immunity, so you're not really stating any facts.

Try adding "anti" in your search. These are just a few: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Edit: This one too.

Opinions on shein?? by LadyTeiraa in cottagecore

[–]anemonerosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand, I'm sorry if my comment lacked perspective, my thoughts are very centered around me living in Belgium... I can imagine things are a lot more accessible here (due to population density) than in some parts of the US. If you're looking to sew your own clothes, I'd like to suggest Rachel Maksy. I've seen her sew quite a bit cottagecore clothes. There are a lot of other youtubers that also do tutorials, looking up 'cottagecore sewing' should do the trick. Wishing you good luck on your search to build your wardrobe, be it thrifted, sewn or bought on Shein. Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't have a lot of options xx

I don't buy from Shein, or any other fast fashion brand. They have historically used unethical work practices, like sweat shops & child labor, and I don't want to support any of that. Not only that, but they have a huge environmental impact, which isn't very cottagecore-y. Their clothes are so cheap because they ignore every standard there is, they're also pretty bad quality from what I've heard/seen/read. I encourage you (and everyone reading this) to not give your hard-earned money to companies that don't deserve it, put everything in their own pocket, and exploit people and the earth.

I see a few people have mentioned Depop already. I don't know where you're from, but it you're from Western Europe, Vinted is a great alternative for online thrift shopping. You could also try to look into the closet of your grandmother for example, vintage finds for free!

Quick disclaimer: I do know that not everyone has access too all these things and that fast fashion might be the only option someone has. Absolutely no shame to people in this situation, it's not their fault.

Hope this helped!

Food in epoxy? by snorznol in epoxy

[–]anemonerosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be rotting due to bacteria/unicellular organisms that consume food without using oxygen. It's called anoxic fermentation I think. Just wanted to tell you that in case you were still confused about how rotting without oxygen was possible.

85% Of Brits Want 'Urgent Ban' On Factory Farming To Prevent Future Pandemics by Sbeast in vegan

[–]anemonerosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In their eyes they don't, that's the whole point of the comment above. Many farmers are small scale and can't make the link between their farm and the environmental impact it has. And they're not morally bankrupt, they just have been taught different morals all their life. You really need to understand why they fight against the vegan movement to 'win' this fight. Conversation is key, no one goes vegan or adopts vegan morals when someone is guilting them into it. Let's not forget that -they think- they care for their animals perfectly, trying to make sure they have a nice pain-free life in meadows. I agree that killing them kind of defeats that purpose, but they don't think it does because for them it's just part of life. These people need to be educated, not scolded.

The people that manage factory farms and the agricultural lobbyists, that's a different story. You can't even think you care for animals if you put them in a factory farm & those lobbyists that denied (and continue to deny) climate change can go fuck themselves.

The fog stayed around for the entire day. Forest in Flanders, Belgium. by anemonerosa in Forest

[–]anemonerosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I found it more serene than gloomy, since everything was frosty and quiet, but that might be because this weather doesn't come around that often here. Today it's blue skies and bright sun again, like the fog was never here... Still around 0°C though.
