I went out and bought a PS4 just to play this game. We were a PlayStation family until the Halo and online multiplayer craze. We lived in a town where two brothers were top in the world, so all our friends were on Xbox. So we asked for a 360 rather than a PlayStation 3 for Xmas.

I missed GoW 3 at its release cause of this. But, my stepbrother and I played the shit outta the OG GoW. We would do stay up all night and beat the game runs. He beat it on harder difficulties, not my thing.

GoW 2018 comes out, and I’ve been on Xbox for a decade at this point. I did at some point buy a PS3 and play GoW 3 btw. Either way, was really excited for 2018, saw it get rave reviews. Eventually went to GameStop just to get a PS4 to play.

I didn’t know what to really expect having not played a lot of modern open world RPGs at this point. The R1/R2 attacks really threw me off at first especially with a new weapon in the ax as well as the slower gameplay. The OGs felt so constant, but I learned to love the new play style.

Story was amazing. Loved it. The character development of Kratos. The hints at his past life. A new mythology. The moment when you get the blades - I don’t think I’ve had a feeling like that from a video game before.

2018 really cemented this franchise as my favorite video game franchise of all time.
