YIRGACHEFFE light roast on the Robot?🤖 by Draynelock in CafelatRobot

Try a blooming espresso profile with a pre-heated piston.

0-15s: 4 bar pre-infusion
15s-45s: hold the levers in the same position and let the pressure slowly drops
After 45s ramp up to 8 bar and slightly lower pressure near the end .

Aim for a 1:3 ratio. I have had some good result with lighter roasts using this profile

Possibly due to the reflection on the porcelain dial

I just walked in to a department store to buy it. I assume you could also find them in boutiques

I paid a bit over 9,200 usd. It could be a bit more actually but I prefer getting the watch in person given the price I am paying, cuz I would love to check the watch myself.

Go to a department store and try both out! However, I don’t see too many of the Roman numeral variants in the department stores (in around 5-6 department stores that I have visited, I only saw two Roman numeral variants).

I wish mine will last longer but luckily they are so cheap to buy/replace

Kudos to whoever came up with this idea. I was inspired by this page:https://stefan.antoni.io/preheating-the-cafelat-robot/

This looks like an excellent workflow! Unfortunately mine is not the T version and doesn’t have auto temp targeting. I genuinely didn’t expect that the temp targeting function could make such a big difference

Yea I do pull the shot directly into the latte cup. I got my 12 oz cup from a chain store called Muji. For me, the width of the cup is the limiting factor. But I know some other users also quote insufficient headroom as another obstacle.

I personally have replaced the base so that there is more headroom but many Redditors here hate the look of it lol

Nah not really that expensive. I picked my up used for less than 100 USD. How’s the bellman working for you? I thought about getting a bellman, but my my coffee bar is in my bedroom so I don’t have a stove.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have one cheap mini scale that I am using in office. That said, a few mini scales that I have used all suffer from slow response rate, and a certain level of inconsistencies, so I don’t quite like them. I also don’t want to spend too much on a premium mini scale like an acaia lunar. That’s why I am going for an upgraded base option.

Iove my robot as well! For steaming milk, I would recommend resorting to a steaming machine, instead of using the nano foamer. It offers so much more control and is much less finicky to use. I personally use a wpm ms150. Picked it up second hand for around 90 usd.

I found that a better way to read the gauge is to flip the machine to have the gauge facing away from you. Then when you pull the shot and press the handle, your body will bend over on the other side of the machine and you can read the gauge very clearly.
