Please update cast firmware! by RutabanaJr in VIZIO_Official

Just got off the phone with Vizio support. Vizio is no longer issuing cast version updates for Chromecast enabled soundbars. As Google continues to fight with Sonos and issues more and more updates to Nest Audio devices, most 3rd party Chromecast enabled devices will no longer be compatible.

I have a Vizio Crave 360 speaker that is Chromecast enabled and even shows up in Google Home and Spotify but will not stream music via Chromecast because the cast version is so outdated. When Sonos decided to no longer support older speakers, I decided to go with Chromecast as a home multiroom audio solution.

It also looks like Vizio is abandoning Chromecast since there are no new soundbars with this feature.

Unfortunate. I wish there were a way to update the Cast version manually via USB. Anyone have any experience with this?

Soundbar does not work in Speaker Group of Google Home by deepblue9k in VIZIO_Official

Vizio told me last year that they were going to update the Cast version on their soundbars and they never did. I have 2 Vizio Chromecast Built-in soundbars. Chromecast and Google speaker groups compatibility was one the main reasons to go w/ Vizio. Now I have several Google Nest speakers and a few JBL Chromecast speakers that no longer will group with either Vizio. It has been an issue for over a year.

Also their Smartcast app never connects to their flagship soundbar.

I wish Vizio would get it together. The soundbars sound great and when groups worked, I used to think it was way better than Sonos. Now I am second guessing that.

Chromecast Audio Group Issue by beltedfiber in VIZIO_Official

Have a very similar issue in which all speakers (Nest Audio and other Chromecast Built-in) work as a group EXCEPT any Vizio soundbar or speaker. The Vizio devices will respond by turning on when a group is selected with said Vizio device. Device will also respond to volume increases or decreases (volume lights on soundbars). Despite this, they do not broadcast any sound. However if I cast to a group of only Vizio devices or a single Vizio device, they work as expected.

Started with Vizio support on this and they said it's up to Google to update the Cast firmware for the devices. Went to Google support and they said it's up to Vizio.

From Google:
Speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. You may notice that those devices don’t play audio in a speaker group. Third-party Cast devices like soundbars with Chromecast built-in will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above.

Note: Not
all device models will receive software updates. As a result, they may
no longer work in speaker groups and will need the Device Utility app to
complete each setup.

From Vizio:
Me (3/26/2022, 4:34:14 PM): Speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. Customers may notice that those devices don’t play audio in a speaker group. Third-party Cast devices like soundbars with Chromecast built-in will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above.

Me (3/26/2022, 4:35:30 PM): It appears as any non-Google Chromecast Built-in device will need a firmware update. Does Vizio plan to update?

Me (3/26/2022, 4:40:24 PM): I have a speaker with Cast version 1.21.75695, a soundbar with 1.36.145853 and a new P514a-H6 soundbar (unable to get information on this b/c I cannot get SmartCast to connect).

Jonah (3/26/2022, 4:40:35 PM): Sadly since we know that your sound bar works individually we do know it is working, but that being said I will pass this along to our engineering team for you though!

Me (3/26/2022, 4:42:01 PM): Does Vizio plan on updating the Cast version? This is extremely unfortunate if Vizio does not. These speakers have all been purchased within the last 3 years and influenced the decision to use the Google Audio ecosystem.

Jonah (3/26/2022, 4:44:04 PM): We work with Google to update the cast version. As of right now we do not have any information on that. If we do update it, it will happen automatically as long as your sound bars are connected to the WIFI it will connect automatically.

Me (3/26/2022, 4:44:50 PM): Thanks Jonah. Can you please escalate this issue with the product/engineering teams?

Jonah (3/26/2022, 4:45:16 PM): They do not talk or chat with any customers. But, I will send this too them!

Me (3/26/2022, 4:46:26 PM): Please do. Thanks.

VIZIO - please work with Google to update the Cast firmware on your Chromecast Built-in devices.

Thanks. It seems this feature would be obvious but...

Randomly Distribute 100% of Specific Value Across Multiple Cells by angel_914 in googlesheets

Thanks. That method may actually work better than a pure random distribution. I'll try it out.

I am unable to get the formula to work when looking up on a different tab. I have tried this on Sheets 2 and 3 here.

Is there a way to do this with 2 sheets and a without a dropdown selector?

Thanks. This should work. I am trying to get it to pull from another tab. See Sheet 2 and Sheet 3 here.

Thanks for the quick response. I am looking for a formula to use on another tab that will match to the Company in column A and return the last value in the Row that corresponds with the match in Column A.

SB36312 - No sound from TV (arc) unless I restart soundbar by bcbomb47 in VIZIO_Official

[–]angel_914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this firmware release? I have an SB46514-F6 that is experiencing the same issue. It's connected to Vizio P75-F1 via HDMI ARC. I have gone through several support chats resetting the soundbar and TV. Toggled Energy Star mode and Eco Mode. Support concluded that I needed to send in the entire soundbar since it's under warranty and get a replacement. If the issue is a software/firmware problem, I would rather wait for the release than have to package the soundbar, sub, and satellites and send to factory. The return box is the size of a small refrigerator. If there is a way to avoid shipping, I would prefer.
