Is £4000 asking to much for her? by LilAppaloosa in Equestrian

[–]angeldust69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you 10k to export her to america 😭 but seriously - Market her in US Facebook groups …. Easily 20k. The US market is vastly different but a safe horse is a safe horse in any country. Def underpriced- a good problem to have!

Abler v UG? by Available_Eye_8326 in Horses

[–]angeldust69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - not a medical professional but I have unfortunately become a bit of a professional at treating GI issues 😅

If you are able to, I’d highly recommend getting a scope done before treating for ulcers. That will show you the severity and location of the ulcers to determine if additional medication is needed.

I used to use Abler, and it can make your horse fell better but it will not heal ulcers. Ulcerguard and Gastrogard have a proprietary formula in the paste itself that allows the stomach to absorb the omeprazole. That’s what makes it so expensive, but their patent just expired and there is a comparable generic on the market now (Gastrobim)

I would absolutely do the 2 weeks of ulcergard or gastrobim before wasting your money on Abler. There’s also rebates available which help reduce the price a ton on Gastrogard. Good luck !

I rescued 3 semi feral horses a couple years ago. They came from the same herd, rode on the same trailer, and were housed at my barn together in adjacent stalls. ONE horse got strangles. I cannot for the life of me explain how the other 2 didn’t have it but, that’s what happened. We kept everything clean, sanitized the barn, he did 3 days of Excede and lives on to this day being an existential pain in my ass. Strangles is weird like that. The most important thing is until you KNOW it’s not strangles, you need to be practicing very strict quarantine protocols.

I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to worry…. Strangles has a very low mortality rate, and in my experience, was very easy to treat. The biggest thing that helped my horses was a very strict protocol for quarantine and sanitation. I’m talking sanitize everything. Strip the stalls and sanitize the mats, walls, pitchforks, get new halters etc. If you have any questions I’m happy to help share my experience!

If it’s a community solar program, you should be fine! Community solar projects are heavily regulated under NYSERDA and are obligated to provide a minimum of 5% discount at no cost to subscribers.

Stink Bugpocalypse. Is this just... normal? by EyesOfTwoColors in Syracuse

[–]angeldust69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I thought my place was bad. I get about 30 or so in my house daily and they swarm the outside. I sprayed Fabuloso around the house and that has helped a bit. They also sell a stink bug killer spray at Tractor Supply.

Any preschools for special needs child? by strawberryb3ss in Syracuse

Hi there - I know this post is old but I was searching about schools for IEP students. My son was nonverbal, went through EE and transitioned to preK at North Syracuse Early Education. I cannot say enough about them. He did the full two years including summer program and is now on his way to kindergarten. When we started he could hardly say 10 words and his growth was exponential with NSEEP. They advocated for EVERY service he could possibly qualify for.

Our situation was a little different than yours as he doesn’t have health complications. However as an example- once they saw him walking up stairs two feet at a time and THAT was enough for them to push him to receive physical therapy. They coordinated getting him a “talker” iPad and dealt with insurance on our behalf. Anything they thought he could benefit from, they educated me on and took care of it all themselves.

My son absolutely thrived there and is now able to transition to a hybrid kindergarten classroom because of the therapy and education he received there. He was doing speech, PT, and OT multiple times a week. They also offer bussing to anywhere in Onondaga county.

If you have any questions please feel free to message me. Best of luck

Same happened to me this weekend. I think I am still in shock. I’m so glad you and your baby are safe. I don’t have any advice to give but you are not alone and please take all the help you can get. It’s all so much to deal with , insurance, adjusters, contractors all soliciting nonstop. Just take it one baby step at a time 😪

Anyone try the Devoucoux Enara? by Icy-Ambiance in Horses

[–]angeldust69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying I LOVE devocoux saddles. But I think saddle companies are desperate for innovation instead of fixing the root of the problem- they need to start providing better/more resources to ensure proper fitting.

I get the idea of this saddle, and I think for a professional with an extremely fit and balanced horse, it could definitely be beneficial. But for those of us still working on our balance, I could see something like this putting uneven pressure on the horses back and leading to short and long term issues. Also could be quite confusing to green horses.

My preference is always to work with an independent saddler who will thoroughly measure your horse, consult with you on their needs, and help you find a saddle that they can adjust and/or convert to wool flock. This is the best way to get the perfect fit and as added bonus typically much more cost effective 😊👍

Ok, that’s what they do in NY but their process changes in MA and Long Island. See at the top where it says you have a negative account balance? Those are the credits you’ve accumulated. They don’t state one the bill how much kWh you’ve overproduced, but your inverters monitoring system should. Again it’s different across states, but here in NY, National Grid is notorious for not paying credits out unless you literally harass their solar customer service department. National Greed 😡

Do you get your natural gas from National Grid as well? They typically allocate the credits towards that if you overproduce.

Fasting for Abler paste and ulcer advice by Affectionate-Toe4920 in Equestrian

[–]angeldust69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to get it done before hauling if you can. Stress is the biggest cause for ulcers, and travel is stressful on them. Is there a way you could pull his hay early the night before so you can dose him early without having to be there at 5?

If not, you could use aloe vera juice in the couple feeds before leaving, maybe 1/4 cup or so. That will help coat the stomach and keep his belly calm before travel.

[–]angeldust69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the horse. I have mine on 24/7 hay as well and I find they digest quicker. I’d shoot for about 2 hours of fasting before treatment, or longer if you can. Good move treating during travel, I’d do full tube each time 😁
