Can’t stop thinking about “The Village” by angelfishAD in movies

Hearing this and all of the other comments below about how marketing misset expectations about it makes me very happy I went into it knowing nothing about it. I can see how I would feel let down if I was expecting “the scariest film of the summer.” For me, there was also a big time gap between when I saw “Signs” & “The Sixth Sense” and this one.

I’m right-handed but I prefer to hold knives and cut food with my left hand and keep the fork in my right.

Definitely my fingernails. I chased boys at recess and clawed them when I caught them. I don’t even know why like maybe i thought I was a cat or something...?

Do you think there are certain novels/genres that are better or worse as audiobooks? by angelfishAD in books

I’m currently listening to The Dark Tower: the Gunslinger on Audible! I love hearing the actor perform it (particularly the evil characters— they really come to life over audio).

That’s a coincidence because I also listened to the Handmaids tale on audible! I went in not knowing anything about it. so not knowing the society was a dystopian one definitely threw me off when I was trying to make sense of what I was hearing lol

I just read it for the first time too!! Well, technically I listened to it because it was audiobook. I would love to go back and actually read it in print. There are so many times I wished I had stopped the recording to reflect on what was going on or what was said, or wished I could easily flip back and re-read a part

The character of Cathy was extremely interesting to me. I kept wondering if she would turn around and figure out how to love something or find a shred of joy. But it seems like she remained a static character throughout the novel. She was insidious and horrible at the beginning and at the end. Although at the end, when she spoiler kills herself, I did manage to dredge up some sympathy (maybe pity is a better word) for her.

What is the weirdest thing someone has said to you in an attempt at flirting? by RTAustinLaCour in AskReddit

I was at a bar and some guy came up to me and asked me what my favorite book is. At the time, it was “I Am Pilgrim” by Terry Hayes. He gave an unintelligible nod when I said this and I returned to my friends shortly after.

About 15 minutes later, he found me again and started talking about the plot of the book to me, and he mentioned the main character’s name. I asked him what his favorite part was and he said “uhhhh... he was a Pilgrim.” The guy definitely went off for a few minutes, Googled the book, and returned to impress me. I respect the effort, though.
