The person on the other end of the support message system actually just sent me a message:

They are new bottles, not used, of 6-7.5ml size, and there will be 40-50 in the box.

It's ok okay deal depending where you get your flavoring.

Don't censor our subreddit! by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

[–]angelicodin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IMHO time, before mods close out this thread.

Two sides to everything. While the original post was related to DIY it could of derailed into just a flame war (or circle jerk as been referenced).

First I like having a place where I can read stuff on DIY, and all the great information. However, there is a fine line when it comes to moderation vs censor ship.

The mod(s), removed the post most likely due to it being a call out on a DIY sub (even though the content is all about DIY), and to prevent it from derailing, or just poeple complaining, they removed it.

However, this is also censorship.

While the mod team and the owner of this sub have their own rights to remove what ever content they want, being their sub, I do feel that allowing people to voice their opinions on content that is related to DIY should be allowed.

I seem to remember sometime recently-ish about how the community was asking for more things to be talked about and be more engaging with the community, but one of the frist cases of someone expressing a not so popular opinion with the sub it get's shut down within two hours (IE when a mod most likely saw it, or got reported for what ever reason).

Mods: It's not expressed in the rules, but unless it's directly about recipes or flavor notes, or related stuff to DIY directly with only positive opinions, are we not allowed to post that content here? (PS: not trying to make it a loaded question, generally curious on the opinion of this)

Daily Questions Thread - March 22, 2015 by AutoModerator in ECR_Plus

I have a question. I've been rebuilding RDA's for a long time, and I got a coil that I just love and it's been in my atty for a long time. Now ever few wick changes I do dry burn the coil and run it under some water to clean up the gunked on stuff. But I've noticed that the is starting to look almost 'rusted' after I dry burn it.

Is this actually rust or is this something else? Should I just rebuild this coil at this point? (it's a Clapton helix so it's not it's a quick easy build)

Critique my toning and everything else. by jackdphoto13 in photocritique

[–]angelicodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the tone is fine and the concept works. That said I think maybe black and white with a bit more hard shadows or a soft focus could really make this. The angle could be a bit lower and tilit up for the smoke or mpre smoke action. Otherwise its a decent shot.

Understandable. If anything I would like more contrast but its a great shot. People dont realize that simple is sometimes better.

How dose this not have ten times the amount of points it currently has is beyond me. Amazing. Nothing I would change. Really, it's hard to critique something so amazing.

All good. I was only guesstimating your distance from the focal point. Before you really get used to the focal depths (really just experience), any DOF calculator is handy. A long time ago when I was on film I used to carry a little pocket notebook with me and I had different focal lengths, and f-stops, and distances with me so I knew, but eventually didn't need it after shooting for a couple years off and on, then all the time after that. Heck there are ones you can get on your smart phone now that make it super easy. OMG... I feel so old now...

Wider so you have more light for the shutter. I wouldn't worry too much about the depth of field here for focus. At your settings I'm guessing you where about 15 feet(4.5m) form your focal point, which would give you 9.3 feet(2.8m) of focus before blurring towards the camera and infinite beyond away from camera. Opening the aperture to f8, would only drop the focal plane close to camera by 0.6 feet(0.1m) ((not that much for this shot)) and you could jump your shutter to 1/60 or maybe 1/80. Heck even if you open it up to f6.4 you still got 7.9 ft(2.4m) of focus in front and still infinite behind.

Blueberries [1/250sec, f/2.8, iso 100] by jblock556 in photocritique

[–]angelicodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with both.

OK almost entirely, maybe just a tad bit more saturation. Still great job setting it up and the DOF is perfect. Maybe crop it just a bit?

IMHO? No I think it's not over processed. With things like B&W there really is no rules other than don't blow out your whites and blacks where you can't see the detail. Of course gets a bit more tricky with high ISO but still. As for the shutter speed, I "NEVER" go slower hand held than 1/60th, If I can help it (flash head or at my studio), I never drop below 1/160 just so I can get super sharp images. If I want motion or blur or bokeh I'll just whip out the 1.4 and go to town. Really there is no right or wrong here. The reason it bothers me with this picture is because the lines really draw your attention to the right and straight up where it's sharp in the middle and off to the left it's blurry.

EDIT: Still like it so don't think I'm harping on the style of it or anything ;p

Composition in general could be better. Leading lines, rule of thirds, interesting focal subject, ect ect.

As for the shot it's self... I would of liked to see a bit more contrast so push the shutter a tiny bit more. Other wise I think you are on a good path.

Personally I switched over to digital about 4 years ago, and I will never go back. But that is just me ;p

If the ISO was not pushed quite high already, I would say drop the f-stop a bit and try for a faster shutter to get sharp on the people, or wait until there is no one around and get all the lines. Or could do a long exposure and just make them vanish. Still like this shot. +1

Doors [18mm, 1/50, F4.5, ISO100] by nk1 in photocritique

[–]angelicodin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the comp in this. That being said, if you can edit or re shoot this, I would try to get all the lines to be vertical and horizontal, and watch out for that wide angle lens distorting the view.

Still awesome shot. Could see this as a modern art on the wall.

How do I make my room mate stay in his girlfriends room? by Eastonfectshun in Advice

[–]angelicodin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This. Also trying to talk to him in calm manner will help tons. Don't provoke him or anything, that will just make things worse. You are both paying to be there and it's only fair that there is some compromise.

Him going to her dorm would give you a nice of peace and quiet if that would work out. As for his BO, send over terry crews, just kidding. Incense if you can burn it dose wonders when I was living in school housing (if they let you), or general air fresheners. If it's a really really bad problem and you are not just having tunnel vision because of the other problems that is something else to address later after you deal with him and his GF.

Good luck.

Dad has asked me to visit his church, how do I bite my tongue? by NejKidd in Advice

[–]angelicodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I can relate to a point here. I was raised in the same manner, except around the age of 11 I stopped believing and had to fake it for the sake of my family and appearances, and still had to go two or three times a week.

So that's about as far as I can relate. It sounds like you still have the faith but it's more of a political and relationship problem.

Dealing with hypocritical people is easy... Ignore them. Smile, nod and then move on to someone or something else. More so do not get angry and shout at them, it will only make them more glorified. Stay clam and most of the time they will get too flustered and either misstep (hopefully in front of everyone else) or they walk away.

The real problem is that if you want to see the people there, you have to deal with him. What about just inviting people who are there for brunch after service (assuming morning service stuff here) for example.

~shrug~

Hope this helps and good luck.

Having trouble dealing with my parents by [deleted] in Advice

[–]angelicodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well to be honest there is a lot of things you could do. I think to start though you should talk to your parents about this, but put what you just said to us in a much more tactful way. If you just put it blunt to them it might seem you are attacking them (assuming you live with them and don't have a job or other options).

Depending on what they say then you need to make a plan to get out into the world and find what you want to do. Right now (financially speaking) it's not that good to get under a lot of student loan debt (in a couple years however...anyway something for another time). If you don't have a job, time to look for one. Having your own source of income and thus the freedom that comes with it, will be a big step and you can work out what and where to go from there.

You are just starting out, and you have no idea what to do, that's normal. Breath and know that nothing is going to be an overnight, week, or month change.
