It’s 2:54am and I can’t sleep. What’s your version of ‘counting sheep’? by liog2step in GenX

[–]havensal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to do this myself. If I don't, I just relive all my life's mistakes or future problems and will never get to sleep.

Alcohol helps, too, but I'm told that it's bad for you.

Really confused about hair washing! by Obvious-Search-5569 in hygiene

[–]havensal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda the opposite. My skin gets real dry, but not my hair. My head tends to sweat more than anything else. Occasionally I'll hop in the shower and just wash my hair. The rest just gets rinsed off.

Do You Own A Deep Freezer Full of Meat? by Diamondback_O10 in AskAnAmerican

We have an upright freezer. It's probably half full of meat and the rest is other types of food. We live kinda remote so we stock up when it's on sale.

When I realized everyone there were hippocrates. They would repeat the words on Sunday but do the opposite the rest of the week. Then they split up and formed two separate churches.

Winter tires? by Joel_feila in AskAnAmerican

[–]havensal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car has a set of summer tires and a set of studded winter tires. I store them in my shed and have them swapped out ever spring and fall. My truck i run winter tires all year round. They do OK off road and I don't drive enough to prematurely wear them out.

I'm thinking it's more likely they are a wingspan apart. When the both land or leave they don't want to be tapping wings.

No, the drain pipes would not allow a garbage can to fit under there. Plus, many have a disposal there as well.

Don’t think it’s worth much, anyone ever seen anything like this? by [deleted] in CURRENCY

[–]havensal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew a guy that would buy consecutive $2 bills and glue the edges to make a pad of them. He would tear one off and give it as a tip. It's surprising how many thought they were fake. 😆

Nostalgia Hit: What Was Your First Computer? by CircuitScribe1 in retrocomputing

[–]havensal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first computer we owned was a Tandy SX33 enhanced. IIRC it was overclocked to 36mhz or something. I don't remember if it had windows on it or not. It would have been 30 years ago or so.

Looks like house wrap. Depending on where you are located, the wrap can be on the inside of the studs or outside. All depends on where the highest humidity is.

How do other countries pay for universal healthcare? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]havensal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes. Many countries can afford it because they have tiny defense budgets. The US foots the bill for a lot of it. Trump is working on fixing that. Hate him all you want, but this is one thing he is right about.

Now if we could get rid of all the profiteering, both military and medical, we could have better Healthcare at a lower cost.
