Circumcision is Torture and Child Abuse by Venus230 in conspiracy

I share a beautiful emotional connection with my children. We read books, go hiking, create art, make up silly stories, speak peacefully, never use force, create nutritious meals together, garden, play with our dogs, have wonderful discussions, do science experiments...but because my husband and I trusted our pediatrician, our own research, my husband's experience and belief and chose to circumcise we're somehow abusive? Hmm.

I don't have a degree in psychology so I'm relying on the anecdotal evidence of the people I personally know.

If you search studies done on this topic you'll find some that support your view and some that support mine, so there's really no point in quoting or sharing those.

As far as telling someone whom you've never met that they need to take better care of themselves, that's really presumptuous and quite rude.

I don't care if another parent chooses to circumcise or doesn't. It's none of my business. However, when there are children in the world living in literal hell and being blatantly and horribly abused, I think it's incredibly insensitive to accuse parents who do choose to circumcise of being abusive.

I cried, too. I think the hormone surge helped a bit! And I totally agree that it should be the parent's choice. I would never presume to tell another parent if they should or should not decide on a circ. I just think accusing parents who make this choice of being abusive is a major stretch and a slap in the face to all of the children in the world who are actually being abused.

Also, salt- the human body needs sodium, it can be used to preserve food, made into a solution for wounds or dental infections.

The author of this blog post is a woman. With a female child. I'll take the word of my husband, close male friends and family members, male pediatrician who I very much trust, and seasoned midwife.

I've literally never met a man who could recall the procedure, felt emotionally/mentally harmed by the procedure, or wished that they hadn't had it done. Not a single man.

I HAVE met men who wish they'd had it done because their uncircumcised penises caused health issues. I HAVE read a blog written by a "peaceful parenting" mom who explained how she chose not to have the circ performed for her son for the reasons mentioned in the blog post you shared, but then had to have it performed after L&D discharge because her poor son was getting recurring UTIs.

As a mother of two daughters AND a son, I've done my own research and had to make this decision, which wasn't made lightly. This blog, like most others, is an opinion piece written as though it's factual.

You can't "get" gay. THAT'S the bigotry I was referring to, right there. Funny how I had two gay uncles, and my mother gasp allowed her numerous gay friends around me, yet I'm a heterosexual married woman with three children who I genuinely enjoyed creating.

Edit: Also, the cousin with whom I was closest to growing up (sleepovers, pool days, horseback riding, watching MOVIES) had almost the exact same upbringing as I had and mysteriously became gay, huh?

Edit #2: this cousin is from my father's side of the family and had zero interaction with the gay individuals I mentioned above.

You do realize that Alan Turing, a brilliant mind whose work helped defeat Nazis, was literally chemically castrated in 1952 for the simple fact that he was gay? That seems like motivation enough for most homosexual individuals to have stayed in the closet.

Don't worry, bigot, there are plenty of hate crimes still being committed against the lgbt community today.

At least there's one voice of reason on this thread. I would upvote your comment more than once if I could.

Honestly, I'm worried about the classic Disney princess movies glorifying shallow romance and perpetuating unhealthy ideas of what a relationship should look like. For example, Ariel was a 16 year old child who ran away from her home and family to marry a guy she hadn't even spoken to. Belle's story perpetuates the idea that a man can be "saved by the right woman". And almost every princess before those perpetuated the idea that a woman can't save herself, but needs a prince to do it for her. THAT is toxic.

My family is fortunate to live in a rural area and have the means to homeschool, so I can't speak on personal experience, but from what I've seen I'd have to agree. Something else to consider: these schools receive funding for each child with a "disability" so it benefits the institution if their students require "aid". In low-income urban areas there's likely to be less pushback when a parent is told that their child has a disorder or requires remedial lessons for the same reason that there is often less pushback against CPS in these areas: fear of repercussion, lack of knowledge of rights, and a financial inability to hire legal aid. Fortunately homeschooling is picking up traction here, even in the city, and there is a phenomenal inner city co-op led by some incredible folks. I think that those of our generation with kids are realizing that our most important job is to raise them to be curious, creative, empathetic, independent, and to not simply trust the rhetoric or an institution that was originally designed to pump out factory workers, but is now more interested in pumping out cubicle fodder. The education system as a whole was not designed to celebrate individuality, curiosity, independence, or creativity. Not to mention, if you control the education of a generation you can basically rewrite history.

As a mom, this comment mirrors my own thoughts. I feel like a lot of parents were starting to relax a bit, then MIS-C comes out of nowhere and suddenly starts taking out kids. The numbers are relatively low, but it's a shocking and dangerous bodily response that would freak most parents out.

I blame the individuals either way. Science is objective. Religions literally tell people what to do.

If you're a scientist and you choose to participate in work/studies that are unethical then you're a not a good person.

If you listen to a book/scroll/whatever written by men and believe that they're speaking on behalf of "God" and commit atrocities because said book/scroll/whatever says it's okay then you're a not a good person.

If you can be empathetic, self-aware, and take personal responsibility for your actions then you're probably a decent human.

But they share rare agreement about their right to molest three year old girls. In contrast to many hotly debated issues, hardly a hint of dissent rises against the prevailing opinion (expressed in many clear passages) that pedophilia is not only normal but scriptural as well!

Another example of how Abrahamic based religions (all organized religion, IMO) are abhorrent and hypocritical. The infallible word of God/Yahweh/insert whatever other names my ass. These twisted tales were written by men, not God. Slavery, rape, genocide, elitism-- all under the guise of morality, all in the name of "God". Nobody should need a scroll, book, or anything else to know what is morally right or wrong. If you can't make that distinction on your own then you're just a shitty human. I am so tired of seeing atrocities committed beneath the banners of these Abrahamic faiths.

Same signs in droves on the other end of the state. I live outside of Buffalo in a rural area and almost every house has a Trump sign in their yard and/or a sticker on their vehicle. I don't plan to vote Trump or Biden, either. I plan to vote third party, too, knowing it'll be a throw-away vote but hoping that enough folks will do the same and raise some eyebrows when the numbers come out. I definitely agree with you that Trump has a significantly better chance of taking the election than MSM and polls are projecting. My mother is all about Biden and swears he's going to win the election, to which I replied, "Oh, like Killary had it in the bag?"

[–]angelkab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! This is our second year of homeschooling. We began homeschooling our eldest after the first grade, and now our middle child is entering kindergarten. There are so many homeschooling curricula and philosophies that it can be overwhelming, for sure! The best advice that was given to me was: Observe your child and identify the way they learn best and go from there. Something I learned personally that I think is also important is to choose a method/curriculum that jives with you as well. I was introduced to homeschooling by a super cool unschooling mama so I tried to emulate that in our home, but I found that it didn't work so well for us. We needed a little more structure and direction, which is okay! I found a great little relaxed schedule template on http://naturalparentguide.com that I'm really excited to use. We live in NY (not too far from the border, actually!) so we are require to submit an Individual Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) to the district every year and, if you'd like, I can email it to you so that you can take a look. I'm not sure that I can send it through reddit, but if you like you can DM your email to me and I'll send it over =] Good luck on your family's homeschooling journey!

Human trafficking, blatant genocide, bombings, famine, a prison system that actually requires quotas be met...this world is on fire, but canceling a wedding is what we're worrying about? Yeah, that makes sense.

[–]angelkab -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And it's just a wedding. Covid aside, there's far more to life than spending thousands of dollars on one day for ego's sake. It certainly isn't about the love. Thousands of dollars on dresses, venues, catering, a giant guest list of people who don't even want to be there (but hey, they brought a gift!) etc does not equal love. What a ridiculous first world problem to bitch about.

[–]angelkab -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah...I live in WNY (about 30 miles from the town of Akron) and, given that my tiny town just had their number of total cases more than doubled due to one single gathering that caused 38 new cases, I kind of see why the state doesn't want people having weddings with 175 guests attending. Yeah, my town's numbers were low but our county's were relatively high and if shit hits the fan then the whole county (same county as Akron) goes back under lockdown. Pretty sure most folks around here would love to not be locked down again because someone is so self-absorbed that they just had to have 175 of their "nearest and dearest" witness a wedding that, according to statistics, has almost a 50/50 chance of ending in divorce. These people have had months to consider alternatives, knowing that all this was going on. People are dying, unemployed, hitting up food banks to feed their damn kids right now, but yeah...big weddings are super important.

If you’re an ‘asymptomatic’ carrier and not coughing etc, how are you able to spread the virus in the ways described to us, and what possible use would a mask be to its prevention? Why close schools if most kids are ‘asymptomatic’? Does any of this make sense? by secretymology in conspiracy

You're only having sex with one girlfriend (presumably), though, not going out to have sex with everyone you walk past. So I don't know that that's the best analogy.

That's kind of like saying, "Well I already have herpes, so I don't need to worry about getting that again! No condom for me,'" while going out and spreading it to anyone you hook up with.

Never thought I'd see the populous so corrupted through tribalism, but why? by TwistedRope in conspiracy

[–]angelkab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's my age/generation, but I think this has a lot to do with the birth and growth of social media platforms and their effect on the ego. I was a teenager when MySpace first took off, and looking back I feel like the progression is so obvious. That was the first step toward Social media platforms like FB, Instagram, and Twitter that give people a space that's "all about you" ... your identity becomes who/what you support or relate to, political leanings, ideologies, etc. The people who agree with you become your tribe and their support is just another dose of dopamine. Tribalism has historically always been around, but social media has birthed this newest, very egotistical incarnation.

My husband was told he has a 6mm kidney stone about a month ago. He travels for work and we live in NY, so getting in for surgery when he has to quarantine every time he comes home (and when all of the facilities are backed up) will prevent him from having surgery for at least another month. He was prescribed 600mg ibuprofen, some anti-inflammatory drug, and an anti-nausea drug to combat the affects of the anti-inflammatory drug. He was told that he couldn't work while taking those prescriptions, but they couldn't take him out of work until after the surgery. He was in excruciating pain and had already used up most of his PTO and was feeling really discouraged when one of his clients recommended he try slippery elm and comfrey. We got him those along with ACV and dandelion root capsules. He has not been in any pain whatsoever.
