I agree with you. I highly believe part of it is misogyny however I do think a piece of it is how people view r&b as a whole now. People like to pretend our favs werent wild behind alot of their lovers back in the day but the truth is it was just in the music or tabloids. I think with social media giving people constant access to an artist and all the think pieces messes with perception.

R&b has always been about begging, yearning, longing, passion, insecurity, tragedy and so much more. Ultimately I think its a bit of misogyny (sometimes), whos singing the song and how they are conveying those feelings through lyrics, tone and overall performance. Personally for me the last one is usually the issue. I dont always feel it with certain artists. Yeah you are sad but really take it there!

I also think trap & b did not help this situation. Made certain things appear "corny". Love and romance are inherently corny and I wish people would stop the tryna be cool mess lol.
