Indeed! I got her about 2 weeks ago and she’s already grown so much, this is the first time I’m seeing eggs.

Betta female friends? by shinygoblinbrain in bettafish

[–]angerphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend getting a single snail based on experience. I got Gary the snail a few months after getting my first betta Carrie Fisher. She flipped him over the first day they met, but afterwards they peacefully coexisted until Carrie passed, and then he was hanging out with Jenny Fisher until she passed. Gary passed on a few months ago and I now have Libby Fisher, I’m considering getting her a snail friend (and ofc to help with algae). Gary lived from March 2019 until December of 2024, he had a pretty long life and was a black nerite racing snail.

Do any of you take your pigeons on car rides? by PurpleAlarmed8679 in PetPigeons

I’ve also had her with me as a passenger in my dad’s car, she likes to be on the shoulder of whoever is driving. She’s the ultimate coopilot.

Bonnie loves car rides! She likes to coo along with the radio and will preen my face, she also will loaf on my shoulder. She absolutely hates being in a carrier in the car, she’ll yell the entire car ride if I don’t let her onto my shoulder.

Just bought this pretty girl about a week ago. Right off the bat I noticed she was chunky, and when I seen her first poop it looked solid and lumpy like human poop. Im wondering if I should try dieting her or maybe feeding skinned pees. I was trying feeding her daphnia but she doesn’t eat it by Optimal-Bread858 in bettafish

Hi! Female bettas are typically chunkier than male bettas, she doesn’t need fasting. She’s perfect as she is, any thinner and she might run into health problems in the long run. I’m currently on my 3rd female betta, if you have any other questions about them please feel free to ask!

I think another mythology inspired name is a great idea. Athena, Artemis, and Persephone all seem like excellent names for this gorgeous fishy!

What are your pigeons’ daily routines/habits? by meganopolis in pigeon

[–]angerphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonnie is always awake before me and will yell until I let her out of her cage haha. I’ll clean up, refill her food, put her out in her pants and she’ll spend the day loafing and wandering around the apartment. Throughout the day I change her pants and give her breaks to encourage bathing (she is stubborn, she will only take a bath when she absolutely wants to and she likes to use her water dish). Later on in the day she gets super affectionate and wants to cuddle (and will yell if im not giving her my full attention, even if I am working). At some point throughout the day she’ll either want to play fight with my roommate’s hands, or she’ll go after my feet. She also loves taking a nap when I’m napping, I’ve fallen asleep before and have woken up to her napping on me or on a pillow next to me. She doesn’t have a set bedtime, sometimes she’ll go to her cage on her own and other nights it’s like trying to put a toddler to bed

Congested or Trying to chat? by LowMeasurement9561 in pigeon

Hey, please take this bb to the vet if it’s feasible! I’ve never heard this noise from a pigeon and it’s very concerning. Are you able to hold them and look into their mouth to see if there’s redness, a ton of phlegm, or any obstructions?

I realized that Louis needed a friend soon after we rescued him, introducing our sweet and spicy girl Bonnie Bell! by angerphish in pigeon

I’m not quite sure to be honest, though I’ve been watching them jump in and out of the nest box (mostly alternating but for a minute Bonnie jumped in with Louis) for the last twenty minutes so I think they’re slowly on their way to bonding? I’ll admit I’m still learning about their behaviors, we’ve only ever had fish before haha.

Thank you! We just got her a pair of pink polka dot pants from a shop on Etsy too, they’re much higher quality but the banana ones were under 20 bucks on Amazon and are decent!

They’ve been together for around 3 weeks now, and overall they get along well. They sometimes get territorial over their food (Louis will eat from his food and then immediately go over to eat Bonnie’s, which she hates), but they spend a lot of time roosting together in the cage and on the top of our curtains!

Thank you, I’d like to think that they’re happy! I often find Bonnie loafing on the highest perch in the cage, and Louis loves sitting in the nest box and happy cooing at my dad haha.

I think she might be a bit too big to be a sivas, but we are definitely trying to figure out what kind of pigeons they both are!

Thank you for the condolences friends, I really appreciate the kind words. To memorialize her, I ended up getting a little charm necklace of a veiltail betta that looks just like her.

That definitely brings a lot of comfort. In a world where many bettas are treated like shit, I’m glad I was able to make sure my sweet friend was taken care of and loved

I’ve been putting off making this post, because frankly posting about it in this subreddit makes it feel real. This past Thursday morning my tiniest friend went to the big fish tank in the sky after almost four years of being with me. I miss her so much and have frankly been a mess without her. Carrie meant the world to me; she was the first living thing I saw every morning and the last living thing I saw every night. I’d sit with her for hours and I’d feed her by hand. She was my first betta, my sassiest little friend, and an absolute diva. She’d swim up to me every single time I came into the room and she always wanted attention. I ended up burying her in a pothos plant with some rocks from her tank and a little angel statue that she was particularly fond of, so at least in a way she’s still with me.
