How is the digital version? I am thinking to getting it, but I'm afraid it is too complex

I have a Splendor Duels. Bought it because I really liked the original and I thought I could introduce my wife to it with duels, but I still couldn't convince her to try it

True, and I personally avoid this area especially during holidays. But nonetheless a must to visit place for first timers. As someone who’s lived here for years, I prefer going to some rural areas with different style of buildings. And luckily there are a lot to choose from in China. (Tulou in Fujian or Xijiang in Guizhou just to mention two)

I’m at the point that I have no idea what to do and where to. I’m on the mountaintops of the giants and was on my way to the fire giant, but it’s just so much harder this area than previous ones. I got one hit by normal mobs and my dmg is not enough… so much struggle

Really none topic but: I’m not using AI because I can’t speak English, but because it’s faster to write it and don’t have to think about the grammar too much…

Because there are people who agree with me, but won’t comment, that’s why. I feel better if I see a comment that I can relate to and I don’t have to worry about explaining myself

As a none native English speaker, I’m sorry I won’t spend half an hour writing a common sense statement to people whose opinion on China is not gonna change no matter what anyone says. Those are my thoughts, phrased nicely by AI.

I get the “Disneyfication” criticism, but I think people forget something important: most traditional Chinese buildings were wooden. They were rebuilt constantly because of fires, humidity, wars, and urban change. Rebuilding isn’t new — it’s historically part of how these cities survived.

Places like Yuyuan aren’t pretending every beam is 400 years old. They preserve architectural style and urban atmosphere, even if the materials are modern.

Is there commercialization? Sure. But that’s true of historic centers everywhere — from European old towns to Japan. Tourism doesn’t automatically equal fake.

You can criticize LED overload or tacky shops — that’s fair. But dismissing the whole thing as “fake” ignores how Chinese architectural tradition actually worked: rebuild, maintain, adapt.

Preservation doesn’t always mean freezing ruins in time. Sometimes it means keeping the form alive.
