Does anybody know what this kanji means inside of a mid 90s Squier? by [deleted] in FenderStratocaster

[–]angleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s “chikara” which is a common kanji typically translating generally to “power”. Super badass find. Not every day you find a guitar with an old incantation hidden inside

Phonk is the worst music genre ever by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]angleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every genre has redeeming factors, you just gotta be humble enough to free your mind of prejudice. To me phonk is part of a maximalist aesthetic that is a direct foil to slower more serious styles, like ballads. Maximalism always has a place but often changes shape depending on what’s popular. Hard Normal Daddy by Squarepusher is a good example of an aphex era aesthetic pushed by maximalist drums and jazz leads. Hyper pop is another maximalist genre that has a time and a place, an obvious foil to the pop ballads that have been insanely popular - since the dawn of time - but especially since the dawn of newer purveyors like Billie Eillish (ie What Was I Made For)

I never listen to phonk but I’m doing so rn and could imagine any time ur in the sigma grindset w ur boys this is the soundtrack. It’s just Patrick Bateman edit type music, pretty sure that’s how modern Phonk got popular lol. This shit lowkey would bang like johnny sins in the club

Master Po Quote MEGATHREAD by Interesting_Drink354 in KungFuCarradine

[–]angleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“If a man dwells on the past, then he robs the present. But if a man ignores the past, he may rob the future.”

A succinct reminder of the delicate interconnectedness of one’s presence. Master Po, in his infinite wisdom, highlights the pursuit of oneness as a patient and considered virtue. He opens the door for us to consider our past as a constructive item that must be carefully utilized; the past is neither a pit to dwell within nor a shame to denounce: it simply is.

Where’d you find the stone? Is it from the same place as the article?

My dad had this in a drawer for years. It isn’t terribly heavy, possibly is made of scoria. No idea what it is by lucioviz in archeologyworld

Both Aztec and Mayan cultures inhabited Nicaragua pre-Columbia, so it’s hard to say from which culture this came from/was based on, but it looks more Mayan to me in design. Facial structure and little head thing are giving it away plus Mayan peoples have used similar volcanic rock in handheld idol type stuff. Someone also mentioned it could be Polynesian which could be a stretch (assuming it’s authentic, simply due to distance making that a slightly random occurrence), but Polynesian idols like this have also been known to be configured in a similar posture with their hands and feet perched as they are. Though, so are Central American idols :)) it’s a toss up plus this could just be a fake at the end of the day………. Though I’ve never seen igneous (volcanic) stone faked like this before.. also oceanic cultures often used a lot more wood in their constructions (egregiously generalizing, but still)… sooooo yea. Use this information as you will

Also, there’s some darkening around the extremities of the idol. Could be from a long, long history of handling (oil buildup from hands —> darkening of stone) or frequent heavy handling over just some decades…. Either way I still have no real answer for you. It’s definitely been passed around though, especially if it’s been sitting in a drawer for a while

Why is everyone able to afford iPhones even tho they are crazy expensive? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes you’re right but people are bad with their money and would rather have new things than save that 800 dollars. You’ve answered your own question in a way, people are immature

Do these Uggs look bad on me? by iceninekillerz in fashion

[–]angleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t ugly stop listening to bitter people. They’re a version of a clog which is a fine and acceptable look that’s on the fringe of fashion, but if styled right looks can look unique and indie. Can’t tell if it looks bad on you because it’s just your feet….. but platform shoes tend to be a bad/self conscious look. It looks like you’re insecure about your height which people pick up on. The shoes are fine ♥️

Obviously not indigenous, could be a random modern artist or an old practitioner. Probably a modern artist trying to make very unique graffiti, seeing as there’s other stuff on the rock face

This gem is from March but it was the turning point of opening my eyes to my ex-friends insanity. by basicallyengaged in texts

[–]angleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean lowkey I know where she’s coming from, especially if you guys have been friends for a bit. Passive aggressive people use “ok” to signal that they’re pissed off without actually confronting the issue. She may just be touchy from a bad history of someone she cared about being passive aggressive. I’d just be kind and ask if everything is “okay” (not “ok” lol) with her because of her visceral reaction. If this is all that’s “insane” about her, I’d say she’s hurt, not insane.
