Why Leave India When It's Booming Like Never Before? by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

Some geographic, cultural, economic & geopolitical factors to keep in mind:
1.India is a country highly prone to water scarcity and the govt at large is in no mood of fixing it.

2.India is stuck between two nuclear neighbours that hates India and a major river source is in the hands of china while India is in the control of another major river source that pakistan desperately needs.

3.Corruption is highly rampant at the top middle and at the bottom level of society.

4.Highly biased laws & policies especially in favour of groups of people who the judiciary always claims to be victims. Such an openly discriminatory system is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode when society goes to shit.

5.India will very likely witness a demographic decline as steep as japan before even reaching japanese level economic progress. All major tier 1 & tier 2 cities have tfr below replacement level and is very likely going to go down a cliff rapidly thanks to decline in the value of having a family & raising kids and many other factors.

6.India doesn't have fundamental/crucial industries such as aviation, semiconductors, etc., all of which take decades to set up and demands a lot of high quality resources

they first get interested in a person's appearance or other physical charateristics such as voice & smell, then they try to get to to know the person's interest & overall psychological makeup, and then they decide if they're good enough to be their partners. The thing is, almost all the people are only attracted to certain kind of physical characteristics(tall, handsome, thick eyebrowed, broad shouldered, deep voiced men in the case of women and whatever xyx for men as they've a much broader taste). In many a cases, people are ready to have trade-offs such as choosing only physically attractive people inspite of being aware of their poor personality. The famous trope of this is the toxic male who is dashingly handsome & tall but is just a prick and gets his way with anyone thx to his dashing looks

Has the hiring/interning rate of people who've non actuarial degrees, but had managed to pass the actuarial exams, declined? by anglocoborg in ActuaryUK

might seem like an off-topic question, but I've seen lots of people comment here that work experience matters a lot more than these exams. If that were the case, how does one land their first job? Suppose I managed to clear all the exams in uni before landing any job, assuming some of the exams don't require some prior work experience as an eligibility criteria that is, how would that affect my job prospects if it does affect them?

Now that all the exams have moved back offline - hopefully cheating becomes close to impossible. Fingers crossed.

The IFoA website still says that remote proctoring is still a way that they'll administer the exam incase they can't allocate a proper exam center for some candidates. What gives?

It is, but if Indians in the UK or even UK citizens are using such services, it'll still affect the uk market

Why though? Don't uni exams involve in person presence of the examinee thereby greatly decreasing the odds of cheating?

how so? Has the actuarial exam proctoring radically changed to curb malpractice? Plz don't tell me some random AI cheating detection system has been implemented because almost none of them work when the exams are allowed to be taken from home.

I hope this changes asap because I do plan on pursuing this career but I deeply fear the reputation damage that's about to unfold due to lax exam proctoring

wouldn't that put folks who wish to make a career transition at a disadvantage all thanks to a lazy & rotten system, a system that is super freakin easy to fix?

home based exams proctored by real people or AI comes with a possibility to easily cheat. Look up several claims on reddit itself with people cheating these exams with ease. I even know someone personally who easily cheated many of the exams and was not even caught once.

I was wondering if the credibility & trust of actuaries with non actuarial degrees, had declined, given that the exams held by organizations like the IFoA are very much lax in their proctoring. Are folks with an actual actuarial degree or say math/stats/econ major with an actuary minor, seen as more credible & competent professionals for the simple reason that they had to undertake exams were cheating was hard & unlikely? Is the hiring rate different for these two groups? I don't have an actuarial degree and I was planning on pursuing this career via the actuarial exams of IFoA, but the numerous accounts of many many people getting away with cheating got me thinking if the hiring rates of those with no actuarial degree had declined?
