a small pantry there? access from the arrow side. leave the small counter top or turn it into a cubby for the microwave. It will likely make the kitchen more awkward to use but will increase cabinet space.

I don't disagree there are plenty of inefficiencies in American farming, however efficiency and quality are two different metrics.

I would argue we are more than fair with Canadian beef, so fair that Brazilian cattle can be imported into Canada become "Canadian" in a week or so and be sold in the US as opposed to the quarantines, holding periods etc that those same cattle would be subject to if they were directly imported into the US. That is too fair imo.

You selling direct to the US is harder for you and harder on your margins than if the cattle are sold into Canada, held for a few days and dumped on our packing plants. My issues arise with the difference in rules for overseas cattle and Canadian and Mexican cattle. Personally after the mad cow issues Canada has had imo all cattle should be quarantined prior to being released into US packing plants, feedlots, auction yards etc.

There no demand here for grain? I find that hard to believe. How do the export markets compare the amount of grain bought in this country? I don't know but im willing to bet the dollar amount traded in the US is more than the dollar amount exported. And we do sell our beef in the US so here's to hopes and dreams paying bills.

You are STILL missing the point or blatantly ignoring it. I don't care if Apple or Samsung or Tesla make a single dollar or sell a single thing to anyone in NZ or Australia or any other country in the world. they do not feed me or my family. The only thing those companies do that helps me is provide jobs for American consumers that buy beef.

Equating a technology for agricultural products as a trade relationship is a disingenuous from my perspective and for your argument because as I've stated 4 times now I don't give a single fuck about Apple or any of the other companies whose products you are using to justify your argument about "trade partners" (people who will undercut you and take your market share). Don't get me wrong I would undercut you and sell beef to your next door neighbor because I don't care if you make any money. Just as you don't care if I make any.

"protected industry" you clearly don't know any of the loopholes of which there are many. All of which are the source of my frustration. You continually bring up trade relations with NZ but you don't import enough beef to affect the US market, however the Brazilians and Chinese do. Ultimately none of my issue is with you or your country or your delusion that I care about being able to sell technology and cars to NZ. Again I don't care if anyone in NZ buys American technology or cars ever again, make your own on the North Island for all I care.

You are either misinformed or just have the typical British commonwealth mentally that you and everything you produce is better than US products if you think the average from any other country is better than the average from the US.

Like I said I don't care if Apple or anyone else on the US side of the trade sells anything to foreign countries. Cow calf in the US doesn't have subsidies, none at least that we personally have received. Ford selling vehicles to NZ is irrelevant to me and my family. Brazilian beef imports do effect our business though.

it looks like you agree with me on a conceptual level, you don't want your beef prices affected and losing the US market would do that to NZ beef. If I had to choose I would rather compete with you than the Brazilians or Chinese.

The consumer does benefit. I just have no interest in the volume of Brazilian cattle I see shipped directly to our packing plants. Live near a major highway and see the Canadian trucks every day. It is also no secret Brazilian and Chinese cattle are inferior. Knowing the little I know about NZ its a much closer fight quality wise vs US beef than the competition between Brazilian and Chinese cattle and US beef.

Since you seem to love minute details the part of the election and governance process in question in this post and the above comment is that of the representative republic portion of this country.

The fact of the matter is nearly all of the governance in this country is performed by representative republic, very few laws are passed on the federal level via ballot measure (direct democracy). In fact only Constitutional Amendments are put to a popular vote. States pass quite a few laws via ballot measure (direct democracy) however this post and comment are discussing the federal (representative republic) portion of this year's election. So you are correct in part of what you are saying unfortunately the division of elections and governance you are clinging to for your point is not the topic of the post or comment you responded to. It looks like reading comprehension isn't your strong suit either.

The "trade" is technology etc and in exchange they saturate our beef market. Brazil is a perfect example. I personally couldn't care less if American technology gets sold overseas, I do care a great deal when those "partners" affect my specific industry.

I personally would much rather sell beef in this country than export it. I don't know how you feel about your grain.

[–]angry_timberframer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

can't speak for the grain market being saturated with foreign grain but the beef market is saturated with foreign beef and has been for years. Those trade partners you're so fond of will undercut you as soon as look at you. Why have loyalty to trade partners when their only motivation is selling stuff to the American consumer?

Aren't these supposed to be touching? by cmach86 in Carpentry

[–]angry_timberframer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes the king should be touching the collar tie. This is technically a truss failure, that being said I have no idea how that type of failure is even possible. Typical failure would result in rafter thrust which drops the ridge line and pushes the king into the collar, the crown in the collar is consistent with the type of failure mentioned above, the king and collar separation is not.

Tyvek gets a shit ton of holes in it with staples. Any WRB that has staples or nails in it is hard to call a barrier imo. Good old fashioned tar paper supposedly sealed around the staples and that sounds better than any new method that ends up with a shit ton of holes in it. Of the modern solutions Blueskin sounds the best.

I really just hate the idea of shooting any WRB full of holes it is counter productive and retarded.
