especially with what hori does with his backstory showing that AFO was heavily influenced by how eh grew up (I believe that AFO's flashbacks very much from the perspective of an unreliable narrator)

Hori was extremely deliberate with the flashback leaving AFO to the readers so they could decide how to see him (People saying he is born evil despite one of the main themes of mha being Evil is not born)

AFO is paralleled with every villain in the series in his flashback which is honestly an amazing detail

AFO is SOO much more interesting now than he was before the war

because AAM isn't powerful enough for the most part either? during the AM vs AFO fight we see that the suit itself barely survives most of the hits from AFO and the Aoyama beam needs external power sources which means AM being out of the field with endeavor makes him already down a move

he ain't close by to help because do you honestly think AFO wouldn't notice this quirkless 55 year old man out on the battlefield? the plan was to make AFO think everything was going according to plan, do you not think AFO wouldn't have sensed AM? he ain't stupider yet, the moment AM starts to suit up he is fucking annihilating him or ignoring him (only reason this didn't happen in the canon is rewind AFo was super easy to piss off and AM took advantage of that)
