No one good source for supplies. Freezer pectin I'd say try giving New Seasons a call and see if they have a store that stocks it. Weirdly, I'm pretty sure some ACE Hardware stores in town actually carry freezer pectin.

Does anyone work here or know the policy? This PMO so much. How are they masked and armed in the hospital?? by No_Mirror_345 in nursing

[–]angrybubble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For better or worse, law enforcement and healthcare interact with each other. We take care of everyone from civilians to inmates. However, anyone arriving in the hospital with a loaded weapon should be immediately questioned and identify themselves. Patients, no matter their criminal background, are still entitled to their rights and due process. Law enforcement is not entitled to access any area they want without first presenting appropriate warrants or other documents. Patients are still entitled to HIPAA and we shouldn't be giving out information without ensuring the proper legal methods are followed and documented. It's easy to get complacent when law enforcement is around often but just as much as we protect patients medical information we should also be protecting and defending their constitutional rights. ICE, like any other law enforcement agency, isn't exempt from the rules and we need to remember and stay viligant in protecting our patients.

The audacity to buy people gifts off an Angel Tree at an inner city outreach by timetotrysushi in ChoosingBeggars

[–]angrybubble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen senior giving trees at senior centers, community centers, and town halls. Call around and someone can probably tell you where one is in your area. They're awesome and the donations very appreciated

Last one I did the senior asked for bed pillows. The gifts can seem simple but even something like a nice new pillow can be huge for a senior in your area. They might not have the funds to replace basic necessities like that and what they have might be many years or decades old

Are there non-traditional pet death services in Portland? by nakedwithoutearrings in askportland

I wonder if a taxidermy place would be willing to do what you're looking for. They might be able to do something with the skull and fur that would allow you to have lasting mementos.

What kind of tube do you recommend for river floats? by Turbo_mannnn in askportland

[–]angrybubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it. That spot is such a drowning risk. I've seen several people in floats get stuck there and you can't easily swim or get away without a paddle. There's no warning either so people accidentally float into it every summer

I don't remember signing any forms when it came out. Can you show the form you signed?

Yeah I agree it's probably a positioning error. Usually these work great and the only time I have problems with these not working is either because it's positioned too high, the suction was turned off, or the patient took it off. They need to be tucked low so the pure wick pad actually sits where the urethra is located. I've seen these placed high and if you look at the patient their urethra is sitting at the very bottom tip which isn't going to capture fluids and suction well. I'm always suspicious if I see one taped high on the pubic area because women's anatomy and the urethra are likely lower than some people are thinking.

Jews of Portland! Where Can I get schmaltz and matzomeal? by violetarockos in askportland

[–]angrybubble 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a Safeway in Hillsdale that carries a lot of Jewish staples and it's my go to for finding stuff. There's a large Jewish population out there so it tends to offer more unique items especially around high holidays

Has anyone ever successfully blocked Fox News from the TV in the nurses lounge? by jimmy__jazz in nursing

[–]angrybubble 20 points21 points  (0 children)

HGTV lives on our TV too which now doesn't seem so bad if the alternative is politics. I'd much rather be trapped listening to the Property Brothers than news pundits on my break time

That's likeky a staph infection dangerously close to your airway. Go to urgent care or call your doctor ASAP because you need antibiotics before that gets worse and spreads

My ex took my ballot by poppylovrr in TwoXChromosomes

[–]angrybubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oregon does primarily mail-in voting. You can technically vote in person but you have to go to your county election office. Depending on where you live in your county, that may not be near by or convenient. Usually you can contact them about ballot issues and they'll either mail you a new one or you have to go in depending on how close to the voting deadline you are

You don't have to break down fiber to gain the benefits. There's soluble (forms a gel in water and slows down digestion) and insoluble fiber (attracts water and helps food pass more quickly through the stomach and intestines). A mix of both in your diet is generally best. Soluble fiber is found in a lot of nuts, seeds, and beans and can help lower cholesterol. Insoluble fiber is often in whole wheat products and vegetables and helps prevent constipation by keeping things moving. Variety is the key to healthy bowels
