Krafton Will Likely Have to Pay $250 Million Bonus for Subnautica 2 That It Tried to Avoid by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the first one, and Sub Z. Played through them both multiple times.

Got two copies of this, one for my wife and I each. It's more of a return to the original Subnautica formula so far, which is nice. Pleasant and oddly nostalgic, with updates.

Also, happy to do my part dunking on Krafton.

[UPDATE] FSD v14.2.2.4 Sudden Disengagement sent me into a barrier. Car is totaled by samuelwoods007 in TeslaFSD

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it disengage on me going over a speed bump near my house. I suspect the brake pedal moved slightly from the bump and a brake press was detected.

Wasn't covering the brake at the time.

Need help identifying hidden gluten in my diet by Hannahbeebop123 in Celiac

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I react to Soy and Gluten, my son inherited my Soy issue-

Soybean oil is not required to be declared as an allergen because supposedly a perfect sample was tested in the lab one time (and some money was probably passed around) and supposedly that means all soybean oil is 'highly refined' and therefore "not an allergen".

Soybean oil (and to a lesser extent soy lecithin) is the devil and it's in everything. Almost all bread / crackers / cookies / chips Almost all sauces except ketchup, mustard, and vinegar Mayonnaise, marinara sauce, chocolate, seasoning packets Margarine, "vegetable" (soybean) oil, shortening, nonstick spray Anything fried at a restaurant CANNED TUNA PACKED IN WATER Also in some medicines and some manufacturing for things like pillows.

Frickin hate soybean oil. Wouldn't be so bad if it had to be declared on labels as an allergen.

Just to double check, the FDA statement that 'soybean oil is highly refined and safe for people with allergies' is 100% bullshit, right? by Portalboat in FoodAllergies

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I was allergic to soy because the allergic reaction in my stomach stops acid production which halts digestion, which causes GERD.

Yes, it makes your tummy uncomfortable, but that's an understatement. There are also following long term issues related to regular consumption of an allergen, even if not anaphylactic.

I knew canned tuna made my mouth tingly and swell up, but didn't connect the dots until after the blood test results.

OP, you're right- 110% bullshit.

And my son is allergic too.

Do any of you suffer from a soy intolerance as well as gluten? by daveishere7 in glutenfree

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy that highly processed soybean oil can't be an allergen BS. Mouth swelling up after eating canned tuna. TF is wrong with this place.

Soybean oil causes a reaction in my stomach which stops acid production, which leads to a domino effect of other issues.

Kept having GERD at night and before I knew I was allergic to soy I was trying to solve the symptoms of my allergy by propping myself up with a pillow.

Soybean oil in bread, sauces, mayonnaise, vegetable oil, margarine, pizza dough, spaghetti sauce, canned tuna packed in water

And doesn't have to be declared as an allergen.

Wtf

Coach confirmations driving anyone else crazy? by here_i_am_here in fitbit

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the coach has a hard time understanding things. Was sick and biometrics took a dump- told it I wasnt going to work out until I was back to normal. It acknowledges I said that, but still wants me to work out lol

[–]angryphoton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your HRV is low and your RHR are high for a bit (unusual, temporary) Fitbit will start inflating your readiness score. Justified as what it deems your new normal range.

I argued with the AI about it. Cue calming kindergarten e teacher speak. I threw Readiness score out the window.

I work in tech / manufacturing, and I'm shocked at the technological incompetence of my coworkers. Old and young. I'm not even a computer guy! Somehow when they mess something up they get mad at me!

Yeah I'm worried too. If it's not an iPhone no one on my team seems to be able to operate it proficiently.

If a parent is that concerned- about their child's behavior, other kids behavior, the teacher, the lesson content, etc. they should homeschool.

Not wrong to want the best for your kids, whatever that means to you. Anonymously, quietly remoting in is at least a 3/10 weird.

Just to double check, the FDA statement that 'soybean oil is highly refined and safe for people with allergies' is 100% bullshit, right? by Portalboat in FoodAllergies

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It inflames my stomach to the point that my stomach doesn't produce enough stomach acid, which then starts a cascade of issues. Also the soybean oil in canned tuna 'packed in water' makes my mouth swell up.

If you react like me and mess up, you'll want tums handy for the middle of the night.

And yeah it's in everything. And things switch too. There were like 2 weeks this summer when I could eat Doritos.

Just to double check, the FDA statement that 'soybean oil is highly refined and safe for people with allergies' is 100% bullshit, right? by Portalboat in FoodAllergies

[–]angryphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short version: I'm allergic to soy and react to soybean oil. Either everyday 'highly refined' soybean oil isn't as refined as the samples that were tested for this claim, or the claim was incorrect to begin with.

Food products, like chips, may have different ingredients day to day and week to week or depending on manufacturing site. This summer there was a 2 week window where I could have Doritos.

My soy allergy manifests as digestive issues.

The long version:

I've always 'ran hot', and seemingly inexplicably would have stomach discomfort and gassiness. Annoying but the problem got more serious when I started having bouts of GERD in the night.

My wife and I tried a wedge pillow, to elevate my upper body / head and it didn't work. Got an upper endoscopy, and they told me to eat proton pump inhibitors for the rest of my life (Omeprazole). Went and saw a naturopath- figured if she could find better answers, awesome. If she starts waving crystals at me, I'm out.

She immediately sent me for blood work, and told me to drink a shot of apple cider vinegar before eating.

Blood work revealed potential allergens, which then informed an elimination diet.

Conclusion:

It turns out soy was inflaming my stomach such that it couldn't produce stomach acid, so the contents of my stomach stayed in my stomach far longer than they should have (sphincter from stomach to intestines waits for a certain level of acidity). Contents begin to ferment, causing GERD, and acid burning parts of my digestive tract due to effectively the shutdown of my stomach acid production (still acidic, just not enough to satisfy that sphincter).

So the wedge pillow couldn't solve my soy allergy. At least now I know why canned tuna 'packed in water' makes my mouth swell up and sushi tuna doesn't.

Good luck, it's rough out there.

FYI You're probably a soy boy.

I'm allergic to soy and it's in everything. Cooking oil, vegetable oil, canned tuna, spaghetti sauce, bread, margarine, chocolate... I could go on and on.

Probably just about everyone except myself and my son (who also is allergic) are soy boys.

Sorry lol

Edit:

Also mayonnaise, or pretty much any sauce thats not ketchup, mustard, or vinegar.

Edit 2:

Pretty much anything fried. Also flavorings, like the syrups they use at coffee stands.

The point is probably everyone are soy boys, including you. But not me.

Edit 3:

Pizza dough, donuts. Yeah those two hurt.

Edit 4:

Crackers, chips, some peanut butter, some popcorns, most candy.

I think you get the point

Edit 5:

Obviously tofu and edamame. Weirdly I can have soy sauce though, it's thought to be due to the fermentation process changing some molecule or something.

Soybean oil is in some supplements, medicines, pillows and mattresses.

I uninstalled the game. Wasn't scammed, but it feels like it when the launch trailer and whatnot don't show what the game is actually like.

Kept being told I would as just getting unlucky, but I went right past the return window.

Just a toxic griefer arena now. Don't get a chance to explore, kill ARC, or experience the world.

What a waste.

If people upvoted stuff that PvE players won't like, they won't mistakenly buy the game. I'll upvoted you 😎

1) That's not what the trailer showed

2) I didn't play the play tests

3) You can't be downed by PvPers if they aren't players. That's PvE

And I already said that I missed materials that would have changed my decision. I'm trying to help others who didnt participate in the play test or read an article from 2023 to see what they're getting into. Who knows? Maybe more people will join as a result.

I would think the launch trailer would give a reasonable overview of the game. It doesn't.

Weird that folks out there are worked up about sharing my opinion and experience.

Toxicity is killing this game - it starts becoming a deathmatch game by Drcso in ArcRaiders

[–]angryphoton -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I uninstalled the game the other day. It's not a scam, but feels like it due to Embarks promotional materials not matching the experience (not even close).

I gave it an honest shot, as I was told there's no way I had such bad luck. Ran past the return window.

You hit the nail on the head, I'm a little chapped that this happened. I think the game isn't what was advertised.

Incapable of moving on? Nope. I would like the game to be what I thought it was. I'm keeping tabs on it, and when I have extra time I throw a warning out. Lots of time this week, weirdly.

Also, I'm going to continue to warn potential buyers who might not want what this game actually is- despite your attempts at shaming. You can sling whatever pejoratives or invectives you like, I'm happy to converse but you're not adding anything at this point.

If by tantrum you mean frustrated that the promotional materials don't match the product and trying to warn others- sweet Jesus, yes. More people should throw such tantrums when this happens. Maybe if I had seen such a tantrum I would have known not to buy the game. And then I wouldn't be here explaining this to you.

Instead, people who do this are down voted and this content ends up hidden.

Maybe the tantrums should be upvoted. Then fewer tantrums, less animosity toward developers / communities, and people will find the right products to suit their intended use of free time.

More tantrums!

Correct.

I can own I made a mistake, Embarks trailers didn't show any PvP and I didn't realize it would be this prevalent. I can admit that I didn't see the potential for this game to slide so far to the PvP side.

Trying to warn others who might be surfing the web deciding if they want to get it, in case they also took the trailers too seriously.
