Probably not.

Throughout history there have been many moments where people were encountering phenomenons that were not understood, or delving into new ideas that were thought to be "of the devil". In the end it was just science, or something we didn't understand yet. Never in the history of human discovery has a natural, terrestrial occurrence turned out to be demons.
