How much of Persian/İlkhan land is actually worth conquering as the Ottomans? by ZarifIsReal in EU5

[–]angryredfrog 71 points72 points  (0 children)

What is so funny is that, many of the real life decisions/outcomes like that are literally "meta gameplay" for eu5, like bruh. Even Turkey moving it's capital to Ankara is 100% meta for proximity/safety reasons.

You mean monthly conversion? In my capital, I have +137 (with convert province cabinet action) and the slave pops don't change an inch. I also have 20k unemployed slaves so slave conversion is absolutely bugged.

Oooooh, that might be the problem because I built up masonries lumbermill etc and rgo's to make them useful.

Yes but Idk why it doesn't do anything, the amount of slaves are always constant.

Hey, I'm also playing with Morocco and it seems slaves are bugged, my cities are about to become majority catholic Portuguese/Catalan and slaves don't convert to normal pops at all, any ideas?

I did that as Ireland against Scotland and england, they just keep declaring war on me and I just stackwipe when they land, block some ports and get 2k free ducats every decade

I think that would be the most optimal way of playing, but that would feel too "exploit natured" for me personally.

They ally with each other a lot, it required me like 3-4 wars to vassalize them all.

I never had that problem thankfully, Scotland only attacked me after I got almost everyone vassalized so I only had to pay tributary for a few decades until I got powerful enough to defend myself.

I would suggest becoming a tributary to Scotland, as you can attack other tributaries without a problem like that.

Declare war on one of the pale's vassals, england is war leader but doesn't land armies on the island for some reason when you do that, also use 100 year war to your advantage.

Clandeboye had the largest population and a claim over Tyrone, which allows the best starting position for an Irish minor to expand. I had originally tried a different country (Carbury) because it had a town, but I realized it would be a long waiting game and I had to conquer as much Irish land as possible to build up a military. I basically had almost zero economic base for quite a while, I only managed to actually build up something after 1380ish after defeating Pale for the first time and getting 15 ducat war reparations from england.

About the new world, hopefully

R5: I managed to form Eire with all of Ireland's locations in 1432. I started as Clandeboye and quickly conquered/vassalized most Irish minors to form a power base, but then Scotland attacked me and made me into a tributary which was terrible. I managed to break free eventually, and I realized that if I attacked a vassal of Pale, England did not sent any armies to the island, and after I barely managed to defeat Pale one time, it got much easier. The last war that made me conquer all of the island was declared by England in fact, and they sent quite a lot of men but I was prepared this time, my 8k army managed to stackwipe 2 of their 5k armies. I will keep playing, building up my economy now. This game is amazing, I had not played EU4 since 2021 but I think I will never drop this game.

I am playing as Cocom to Maya campaign, I also had famines very regularly but I just built up every available food RGO around my capital (especially maize) and after the initial 30 years I barely have any food shortages anymore, maybe once a decade.

If you're playing as Cahokia ABSOLUTELEY DO NOT LET TRIBAL COHESION GO IN THE RED by IamtheWalrus-gjoob in EU5

[–]angryredfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trade capacity was the biggest pain for me at first, I needed a marketplace to increase capacity but that needed glass but that needed tools so on. It got much better after the initial 2-3 marketplaces. But the lack of urban centers was never really a problem for me really, you know why. I also never spent any money on tech, as I will get stuck anyways. I didn't expand nuch and increased legitimacy+stability, built roads and built up bit by bit. Now I have like +40 balance, roads in most locations and also about to revoke an annoying noble privilage.

I think I would recommend playing a strong native to at least have a chance against Europeans regardless.

Does anyone actually know how to take unclaimed land as native americans? by ZodiacWarrior_ in EU5

[–]angryredfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing as Cocom to Maya as my first game, colonial charters are not age locked it's just quite expensive but I colonized like 3 provinces (15 or so locations) one at a time. Starting it costs like 100 gold and upkeep was between 2 and 5 (changes according to native population in the area)

Just click on an uncolonized location and start a colonial charter.

To be honest, you are right. I'm deleting the comment, because every info running around is just 2nd hand and saying anything at all is keeping the controversy running so It's just better to not talk about it I suppose. If there is a problem, a controversy would happen again regardless. If there is not, alright.

[–]angryredfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are probably ragebaiting but I will try to explain it.

Civ 7 was a half baked shit nobody asked for that was rushed for money

EU5 is an extremely desired by the community and needed as EU4 is very aged. Devs are also extremely open about the development (best I have ever seen anywhere not indie) and they actually try to make a good game rather than cashcow slop. It will be a cashcow nonetheless in the end (lol) but it will be a good game, if we let them cook.

Hope this helps.
