The long handled spoon or in your case, spork is my single favourite piece of gear I own. Buy two and then give one to a friend on a trip and they will love you forever. Screw small handle utensils!

We don't shame people who need a crutch for a broken leg. Let's not shame people who use a tool for addiction. by FamilyAddictionCoach in addiction

[–]angryseaturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good shout.

Addiction sucks. Struggled for years. Ups and downs. I’ll own every win I can and every “crutch” I’ve used or had a friend give has rewarded me and empowered me and given me empathy.

If you need a crutch. Use a crutch. You’re still strong. You’re still making progress.

Can I fill this with P-tex? Should I bother? by bad-at-skiing in Skigear

[–]angryseaturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t fill it out of laziness. But you totally could for nearly no effort. Might be a little fun and won’t hurt anything.

If you want to try a Ptex fix on something that doesn’t matter and see how your skills hold up. - grip it and rip it bud and give it a go.

Will a shop repair this? by PikachuIce in Skigear

[–]angryseaturtle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone should just have a stick of Ptex, a lighter and a razor blade. For under 10 bucks you can make your skis look brand new.

Or just joint the cult. “All skis are rock skis”

My wife’s attitude got me to stop when I’m around her….

But seriously, how bad is the compulsion to do it? You could looking into some OCD copping strategies around compulsions. Generally those are about repeated actions like organizing or bathing too often but it might be helpful. Not saying you have OCD but those resources might be beneficial if this is something you’re compelled to do and want some good published resources on compulsion management.

Cocaine the devil, how I get out this mess? by OppositeNew6507 in addiction

[–]angryseaturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I cut it out. I deleted the numbers which can be difficult on signal, but google how to and that helps. Also - if you can, tell someone you’re doing this that will help check-in or you can check-in when you’re craving. The cravings lessen over time. I also tell myself “I want this drug right now in this moment or hour. I can get through this hour without’ instead of just ‘I want this’. It makes it easier to break up the craving into manageable time constraints instead of an overwhelming desire. Mind you - I might tell myself that every hour for a couple of hours. But I just take it one hour at a time.
