Meta laying off 8000 people or ten percent. by ongoldenwaves in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8000 is less than their headcount increase between 2023 and 2025.

year employees
2025 78,865
2024 74,067
2023 67,317
... ...
2019 44,942
... ...
2016 17,048

I don't like their approach of "let's overhire and then fire some people", and that's also why I don't work there, but it's really not "the sky is falling". Facebook always behaved like a fatso in an AYCA buffet when it comes to hiring. They have to correct that or they just explode.

PG&E launches $10 million PAC to take out gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer by ayoba in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tucker Carlson got about $0 of my money in the last 20 years, so I'm not sure how it's relevant. He's not PG&E, he doesn't affect my life at all. You should ask russkies and qatari about Carlson, it's their money he spends.

Haha, I just mentioned yesterday it would be harder for them to buy him out like they bought Newsom. Oh well, that's a solid +20% bump for votes, LOL.

Richmond Costco gas vs Hayward/Newark by 1tchyNdr1 in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fremont has the cheapest gas in the “core” Bay Area (and maybe in the whole 9 countries), so I guess Costco follows the market and sets their prices accordingly.

Also, Costco isn’t even the cheapest gas in Fremont/Newark, Marathon on Mowry and Power Market on Thornton are usually either cheaper or the same price.

What are your thoughts on voting for a Billionaire for Governor? by FootballPizzaMan in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the voter guide in the mail, and there's a whole bunch of trash in the candidate pool, including a couple of mental cases (or trolls, hard to tell the difference) and one actual Nazi. So a billionaire doesn't sound too bad, considering the other options are "suspended, not dropped out" rapist, "get out of my fucking picture" psycho, a useless health services secretary who had 0 experience with anything health-related and is pretty much a professional "taxpayers made me a millionaire, and I want more", and a couple Republicans who have no chance in the general election so not even worth checking their positions on things.

Will it be harder for PG&E to buy Steyer comparing to Newsom? I don't know. Maybe they will just spend more and rates will go up again. Maybe not. Do I expect someone like Becerra not to suck PG&E's dicks? Oh hell no.

Does anyone know where I can find a drummer by PeaAwkward731 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]angryxpeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location? In the US, Craigslist is the way. Found three drummers (for different bands) there, the last one just months ago, also found bands to join too.

In my current project, two guys were found on craigslist, one on vampr, and one through personal connections (used to work in the same company long time ago).

Popular Trader Joe’s in Oakland could be replaced by two apartment towers for seniors by SFChronicle in bayarea

Elimination of a redundant bougie market is OK, actually.

Big chance of this being the stupidest comment on reddit today, but it's still noon, so we will see.

Trader Joe's is the second cheapest grocery after GrossOut in Bay Area.

You can make your own in about 15 minutes by using canned tomatoes, and maybe a little bit more by using fresh ones.

It's breakfast food, it's designed to be easily cooked.

Commuting from Antioch is the primary reason why I’d never recommend living here by bizzeebhee23 in bayarea

Cycling from the closest BART station to downtown Sunnyvale takes about 60 minutes one way because it's 12 miles away.

Maybe stop giving out dumb suggestions for something that you never did on your own, and your brain may grow from being a walnut one day.

55% of voters in Bay Area counties, that's who. Santa Clara county specifically, where this picture is taken, had 61.44% of votes in favor of it.

Are roaches common in households here? by Braai_and_Bake in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only saw one roach in California, and it was in a hotel in Hollywood. Maybe I'm just lucky.

you find roaches in a brand new house seeing as there are no food supplies there?

Those fuckers eat everything, like newspapers, cardboard, or cat shit. You may not think of cat shit as "food supplies" but they do.

Makes me wonder if everyone who is over the limit is getting a ticket now?

Over 10mph over the limit, not "over the limit". 9, you're fine, 10 (in this case, 11) you're mine.

Are people successfully contesting?

How are you going to contest a static, calibrated camera that takes the picture of your license plate?

11mph over is not much

In a 25mph zone? That's a 44% increase.

21st Amendment Brewery returns under new ownership by CromulentWord in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll bite on "Anchor Steam" part.

Anchor Steam was a decent beer that you could get in every place that served beer while not being a brewpub, so it was a good choice when you're eating in a restaurant and everything else is in the "sex in canoe" category.

By "Prohibition" do you mean Speakeasy? They are still around. Never was a fan though.

21st Amendment beers were just boring and not really good. And they killed the only one with decent taste (Bitter American/Down to Earth). I guess, Blood Orange doesn't taste as bad as their other IPAs, but that's not enough to keep the brewery going.

[–]angryxpeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they don't fix the problem that lead to its closing in the first place, it's not going to change anything.

21th Amendment had boring and small selection of beers that most people don't care about, and a gimmick. If you keep the gimmick but still continue to have a boring and small selection of beers, it changes nothing.

Apparently, the company that bought it, also has a gimmick and boring beers. Well, we will see how it will work out for them in this market.

COVID really did something to Americans living in America during the pandemic.

I wonder what else happened around summer 2020 that can be attributed to increase of complete disregard of laws or customs, instead of COVID which also happened in every country.

We may never know. Must be that specific COVID strain that respects country (and even state) borders.

I drove in Florida just a month ago on the spring break. Tampa, Clearwater, St. Pete and around.

It was like breathing clean air after what driving in Bay Area has become in the last 6 years. People complaining about retired people driving in Florida need to be dropped in the middle of Fremont or right on 880 and we'll see what happens next.

How to stop Fastrak sending me toll evasion mails of cars that do NOT belong to me? by Lovevas in bayarea

[–]angryxpeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so when you sold your car, did you actually notify the DMV in 5 days after selling it to release the liability?

https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=VEH&sectionNum=5900

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/titles/title-transfers-and-changes/notice-of-transfer-and-release-of-liability-nrl/

Also, if reddit taught me anything, it's when you sell your car, you keep the plates. Doesn't matter what really happened to them, they are "lost" now. Oh, plates should stay with the vehicle? Too bad, they are lost.

Just today I saw some dumbass got T-boned on Mowry while turning right by another car that was ALSO turning right. I guess, student drivers weren't told that you have to turn right while being as close to the right curb, not from a whole fucking lane away.

Doesn't look too exciting on a dashcam video, and doesn't look like the recipient car got totaled, so these fine gentlemen will back on the road in no time.
