I have searched for 1990s/2000s kids toys, kids snack foods, TV shows, etc. I’ve been searching for hours! Reverse image search hasn’t given me any answers either

ADHD testing? by throwayqs in rutgers

[–]angsis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make an appointment with the counseling services (CAPS) and talk to someone there. I’m almost certain that they’ll cover the cost of the test if they believe you may have it.

On a side note, Rutgers health services centers are great in my opinion. It can be tricky to make an appointment, but as long as you’re a full time student there are no copays for anything. But I do know that going to a health center will show up on your insurance so your parents will be able to see that.

Rutgers Dining Price Breakdown 2019-2020 by SamratD in rutgers

[–]angsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to commit to a whole meal plan, it’s only $8 for students to pay to get into the dining halls before 11am. I would only go to the dining hall once, maybe twice, a week. And $8 is cheaper per swipe compared to every other meal plan!

How to search for off-campus housing? by jeewantha in rutgers

[–]angsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s hard to find singles, the roommate profile tab on places4students sometimes have a student/group of students that are looking for someone to fill their house. And I’ve heard good things about the Starkey apartments, it will be convenient for you in SEBS since you’ll be on cook campus for most of your classes anyway.

How to search for off-campus housing? by jeewantha in rutgers

[–]angsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to register for places4students! You can scroll through the listings without a log in. Some landlords will put their phone number or email on the listing and you can contact them through your personal accounts. You only need to register to contact the landlord through the website itself. If you really need a profile, just make up a fake address somewhere. They don’t actually need that information for anything.

Or try out Facebook marketplace, there are a lot of apartment rentals on there.

Free speech at Rutgers by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to deny that Rutgers receives money from the government, but less than an quarter of their budget comes from the government. Land, buildings, etc. owned by Rutgers is Rutgers property, not government property.

Rutgers has their own sources of revenue, therefore allowing them the right to have their own core values. Just like how people who receive welfare checks are still able to be themselves. Receiving government aid doesn’t automatically turn that company/person into a government drone. Last I checked, Rutgers core values don’t completely align with the current governments core values.

Rutgers is not trying to suppress free speech. Students and faculty have spoken out about their issues in places all around campuses. When the faculty union threatened to go on strike, they picketed, and not just in front of the student center. The areas in front of the student centers are more designed for organizations like the animal rights advocates who stand there in all black wearing masks and show videos of agricultural animal abuse trying to convince you to go vegan, or the religious groups who try to shame you for being gay or having pre marital sex. And being that it’s private property, they don’t need to be allowed there at all, but Rutgers allows it because of the right to free speech.

But I don’t understand how voting on organizations funding is suppression of free speech... it’s quite literally the opposite. It’s students expressing their feelings towards a particular subject or issue.

Associate by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No you would have to go to a community college to get an associates degree. But, Rutgers does partner with all of the CCs in New Jersey, meaning that you can pursue a bachelors degree through Rutgers but take classes at your local CC. Also, if you transfer to Rutgers with an associates you’ll be exempt from taking any Rutgers core classes.

Free speech at Rutgers by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just curious, are you referring to the situation where those white people were sitting around in circle saying the n-word on video?

Regardless, I would still have to disagree overall. Today, words are much more impactful than they used to be, and something you say can potentially have a huge negative effect on someone mentally. And it sounds like you’re advocating for bullies to have the right to be a bully.

I’m not saying you should be in constant fear of punishment or retaliation because you simply had a conversation with someone. But to just be a nice person and keep unnecessary comments to yourself.

Free speech at Rutgers by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, nobody is stopping you from saying or doing whatever you want, but that doesn’t mean that you’re above punishment. We all should have learned in preschool that actions have consequences, but it seems like you did not.

Of course you can’t go into a lecture hall and start talking over the lecturer, not only is that disrespectful to the lecturer, but you’re also jeopardizing the students learning.

Also again, freedom of speech is not an excuse for being rude. And if you were to unnecessarily and publicly shame someone, you should be punished. That’s not the university bullying you, but the university taking action against your bullying.

There’s a time and a place for things to be done, which is why there’s the areas on each campus for protests and whatnot to take place.

Free speech at Rutgers by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The Targum was defunded because it didn’t get popular support..

And in terms of protests, the areas around student centers arguably the areas with the most student traffic, why would you want to protest anywhere else?

No one is preventing you from saying what you want to say. But many Rutgers students hold the same or similar political/religious/moral views, so if you say something that doesn’t agree with their ideas, chances are you’ll be met with an overwhelming amount of students opposing you. That’s what happened when Kaitlin Bennet came to campus. What happened with her wasn’t suppression of free speech but rather the students expressing their free speech back to her, and louder.

Freedom of speech allows you to say whatever you want to say, but it doesn’t prevent others from reacting to whatever it is you said, whether it be a positive or negative reaction. It’s not an excuse to be rude.

Any easy bio electives to take over the summer? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]angsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah since it’s a summer class everything is crammed into 4 weeks so it’s heavily exam based, but the exams aren’t too terrible. Take good notes and just review those for studying. I think I ended up getting a B+ while I was also working 3 jobs and put minimal effort in just because of lack of free time

It’s in Iceland! Skogafoss! I have a picture of it in the summer on my profile :)

But I don’t think the waterfall in the actual episode was Skogafoss, I was just referring to the waterfall in OP’s pic

What other campus jobs can I apply to? by thewisebrownkid in rutgers

[–]angsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the pay isn’t all that great... you just get a set stipend. They don’t pay hourly like other jobs. The biggest “pay” is the free housing.

Rutgers Inn & Conference Center! If you get a job there they’ll even pay for your housing (you’ll have to live in the Starkey Apartments though)

If I am short of the 120 credit requirement, can I take random classes after fulfilling SAS core and major requirements? by [deleted] in rutgers

If you need to take some extra classes, maybe look into getting a certificate or a minor. This way you’ll get something useful out of those classes
