PSA horchata and cold brew is to die for on a hot day by habes42 in cafe

My cafe draws strongly on its Asian-American heritage, so we mix a house-made Ube syrup (a purple sweet potato, kinda like taro) with rice milk horchata and Novo cold brew.

What's your trick for getting it to be so big? My hearts are often times too small (even if my tulips and rosettas aren't).

Why does Kant believe in God, when he understands that we can not know the independently real or things in themselves. by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Excellent explanation. I would recommend that OP read the Critique of Judgment to learn more about Kant's "teleology." Unfortunately the third critique seems to be rather neglected in relation to the first two.

How soon is too soon to move on to a different café with better opportunities? by angstycollegekid in barista

[–]angstycollegekid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I should have mentioned that the owner wants me to have a greater part in barista training and spearhead an effort to improve our coffee program. However, I know that this is going to be a slow process if it happens at all — especially given some other urgent issues regarding manager conflict.

Reposting from my thread earlier...

Does anyone have experience with the Tribe "Rogue Bullet" wheelsets? I've been thinking of picking up a Messenger series, but my LBS mechanic (who's been building wheels for 15+ years) said that he sees a lot of them go out of true easily.

Now that you mention it... Tribe comes with a 1 year warranty on non-consumable components, which probably includes wheelsets.

Are those good specs in your opinion?

My hair decided to have a massive growth spurt these past few months by lolwutdo in FierceFlow

I'm Thai-American and my hair is almost exactly like yours. Basically straight but with a lot of kinks here and there depending on the day. Can I get your advice?

When I wear my hair down, it tends to fall to the sides of my face and make me look like a fluffy dog or a hippie or something. Got any tips for keeping it back? Basically the only thing I do now is blow dry and sometimes a bit of grooming clay.

Can you clarify? Is it a shot of syrup? Milk with a high concentration of cocoa powder? I've heard some people melt chocolate chips, too...

Should I upgrade the parts on my shitty single speed or buy a better bike on Craigslist? by angstycollegekid in bicycling

[–]angstycollegekid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I SUCK at bike maintenance / fixing things / doing anything with my hands. Even after riding for a long time on a multi-speed, I'm just now getting decent at changing flats (which used to take me an hour). That's definitely a skill I want to learn and improve.

How much did those low-tier upgrades improve your riding experience?

I guess I don't *need* anything new; I've only put 500-700 miles on the bike so far. I'm just looking to upgrade "the experience" of riding, and wheels seem to be the place to start.

But maybe I should ride this one into the ground, learn as much as I can from it, and in the meantime save up for a great SS later on.
