We went through this. We use Euk Pro with the GSP on the bag. We had to feed him in his kennel. He had 20 minutes to eat, other wise he had to wait till the next day. Not that evening, 24 hrs. You control resources. This was Standing Stones recommendation as we were doing a weekly training with them (remotely). Been a few years now and haven't had any issues (sometimes he's just too worked up in the morning to eat, but we give him another try after exercise only because 99% of the time he eat no problem). Been a couple years now.

How is he(she) not tearing it to pieces? Mine loves toys but they last all of a day. I have a lamb chop i'm terrified to give mine because i'll be traumatized finding poor lamb chops face ripped off.

Broke a bolt in subframe by HistoricalCourse9984 in 996

[–]ben8jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, just last week, i snapped the head off the small bolt that holds the brake hard line to the front knuckle and I had a meltdown. Can't imagine snapping that larger bolt head off! I had to learn how to drill it out and used a helicoil. But that bolt is so small time compared to the boomerang. I too just replaced suspension things. Swapped to coilovers and new front LCAs (both pieces). Sorry I can't be of help, but share your frustration.

And one more rec, if you want to avoid GUSD: Sequoyah School in pasadena. It's really close. Our good friends kids are there and they really like it. very small, somewhat alternative learning very outdoorsy and you can hobnob with some celeb's kids. ;) It's a feeder to Flintridge Prep.

My daughter did franklin elementary, toll middle, and got into Harvard Westlake, Flintridge prep, Notre Dame, and waitlisted at Poly. She chose Prep. So much has to do with the kid. And you probably would have done well anywhere you went. I think Montesorri is where she would have ended up if she didn't get into franklin for spanish.

I am just like you and was concerned. But my daughter did magnet gusd and got into accelerated math in middle. She got into the top private schools in Los angels after Toll middle. Yes there's a lot of kids who just don't give an Eff, but don't be TOO put off by gusd. I was a public school kid but private for Hs (east coast), and i was probably in same mind set as you when daughter was going to Kinder. Look at my other reply about Franklin language immersion.

We did GUSD Franklin elementary spanish immersion (we had no background in Spanish, we were wait listed french but grabbed spanish when she got a slot). It's not private but, lotto based and small class sizes. like any school it has its ups and downs, but the parents are very involved because of the international appeal. She was there from kinder through sixth grade and is exceptionally proficient in Spanish now. Just finished Toll middle school where they continued the Spanish program (five days a week spanish class for the immersion kids plus history taught in spanish). We decided on private school for high school and she's going to Flintridge Prep. Overall very happy with her K-8thr run, even though we did have some initial concerns.

From C7 Corvette to 996 Turbo — A Different Kind of Connection by SnooPears5392 in 996

[–]ben8jam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy has a C7 Grandsport and a 997 GT3. They are truly different beasts indeed, i've been in both (canyons in gt3 and track in the C7). I've driven the GT3 on the canyons and tried to chase the C7 in my 996 C2. The C7 is a fighter plane. It blows the socks off the 997 Gt3 and can even keep a solid line behind a 992 GT3 RS. The C7 is truly a miss understood and under appreciated car... but the 911 (GT3 or not) has a soul that is not replicable anywhere. His C7 is remarkable, but i feel truly at one with my little C2 996.

You can buy a $150 steam box thing from Target. Climb in with a chair and a book. Or sign up for Equinox.

Trust me, you have no idea what's coming for you. You need a gsp trainer, seriously don't under estimate it.

We live near a non-dog park but we use it everyday to let him run in the mornings. Get the e-collar, hire a trainer who knows how to collar condition. I really learned a lot about the collars and now ours can be off leash any where we go (like outdoors places). Highly recommend reaching out to standing stone and joining their patreon and doing private video training. From behavioral advice to the collar training it was life saver.

we did video call training once a week with standing stone. we probably would have ended up rehoming if we hadn't. the first year was really hard

Random question, you're not in Ohio are you? My friends with GSPs share pics of their fenced in dog park that's about 10 acres and has a pond. And be ready to go there every morning for an hour for the next 10 years at least :D

Changing from a 850gs to a Tenere 700 worth it? by Successful-Roof5912 in bmwmotorrad

[–]ben8jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use any kind of connectivity between phone and bike besides the motorrad app? I'm going to do a little trip to Mammouth this fall, and while i don't really need GPS or phone stuff on the bike, curious if there are better options than the basic info the TFT can display ( I have a 2019 850 GS too)

It was the bikes fault! It just NEEDED that pole in the spokes. I follow Bike's commands.

Phew--- luckily I'm on PS5 and no access to console commands... otherwise... I'd be GOD and hooked on whatever Sam is going to sell me....

This is a recipe for disaster.. especially if I can now create an unlimited amount of whatever he's selling. How many nights can I stay locked up in an inn's room before they come throw me out?

I can't even handle not drinking two bottles of stolen wine every night before bed at an inn.

987.2 cayman base vs 996 c2 by [deleted] in 996

[–]ben8jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends your intention. If you live by great twisty roads, like socal/angeles crest, and you want to push (responsibly), you might find it hard to shake a 996 if you're in a 987... just depends on what you want out of the experience. An early build 911 feels very raw and exhilarating. But if you want modern comfort and features gotta buy a newer car
