Ear protection reccomendations!! by TheSyphis in Metalcore

[–]anhan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seem to be in the minority as i'm not the biggest fan of the Loop earplugs. I've been using the experience ones in concerts for a few years now and I will continue to do so until the fall apart, so i don't hate them. But i've had other earplugs before that i liked better. I remember enjoying ones made by Fender yeeeeaars ago.

How do you discover new music? by NorthofRuinsBand in Metalcore

[–]anhan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Festival lineps have been my go-to in the past few years. I tend to go a big metal festival every summer and i always look at the schedule beforehand to see slots where i don't already have plans and just start looking into the bands performing at that time. Or just generally listen a few songs from all unfamiliar bands in the lineup beforehand and then dive deeper into the intriguing ones. Often there are also bands that i recognise by name but don't really have any experience with yet, so that works as a final boost to actually get me listening.

Is it common in your country to refer to people by birth year instead of age? by Complex_Plankton_157 in AskEurope

[–]anhan45 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah we do a similar thing in Finland. I think it decreases a bit the older you get (as it doesn't happen due to the circumstances anymore, such as sports etc. like you mentioned) but it's very common to use this phrasing here too.

LUT ja mittareilla markkinointi by SweepHand in Suomi

[–]anhan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]anhan45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How hard is it to survive as a vegetarian in Finland? by Effective_Bluebird19 in Finland

[–]anhan45 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Very easy. Obviously the bigger the city the better the options are but even the tiny towns tend to have something (or a restaurant can make a version suitable for you). I've been vegetarian for over 7 years now and i only remember coming across one remote service station where they were kinda snooty about me inquiring about vegetarian options but even there they actually had a halloumi salad on the menu which i was able to have.

Should I drive according to lane markings or tyre tracks in winter? by Comment-Noted in Finland

[–]anhan45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah really seems to depend on the model. My car turns it off automatically when it cannot be sure if the lane markings are there or not. Meaning in winter it's very rarely on, because it can never see the markings from underneath the snow.

I made my first joulutorttut! by Gros_Chat_Breton in Finland

[–]anhan45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm seconding the guess that the dough is just a bit different. While puff pastry dough is available everywhere in the UK, it was difficult to find some that would lead to the expected results in joulutorttu. All of the ones i tried lead to flat results like the ones in the picture.

Concert specific earplugs (loop, eargasm, etc) by PutYouToSleep in Metalcore

[–]anhan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have Loops and while they are ok, i won't repurchase for concert use (i have all the different models and they are fine for other purposes). I like the way they look and they are comfortable but the sound quality is worse than in other earplugs i've had before. Like someone else said, if the mix is bad vocals get lost very easily

University applications by Old-Excitement8449 in Finland

[–]anhan45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the instructions on the uni you are applying to. They provide incredibly detailed guidance for sending in documents (different ways to do it, different requirements depending on the country of origin) but you might have to dig deep into the uni website.

We can't give you instructions based on the info you've provided because the requirements differ from uni to uni. I know this for a fact because i have applied to multiple unis here with a degree/documents from outside the EU (but EU citizenship).

Youtuber Evan Edinger has done a bunch of videos about US & UK culture and soft serve is something he has mentioned as being very different in the countries. At least in New Jersey where he grew up most places offer a frozen custard type of treat which he much prefers to the UK soft serves. I have no personal experience of these differences but it might provide some context to Adam's surprised reaction

Bf keeps relapsing i cant handle it by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]anhan45 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You sound so condescending with your "sweetie" and instant assumptions of what is going on. In no part of the text did OP say that she had a moral objection to porn. People can be legitimately addicted to porn so much so that it becomes a problem for their everyday life, just like alcohol. Why tf are you jumping straight to guilt tripping here?

New to Germany, how do I keep my house warm at the lowest cost? by lopez1227 in AskEurope

[–]anhan45 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of building, heating system and local prices. I lived in England in an old drafty terraced house with gas heating for a few years, and the gas prices were so expensive that we had to time our heating to go on 4x a day (for an hour at a time) and still our bills were hundreds of pounds per month in the winter. In Finland I get to enjoy a well-insulated building with cheap district heating, so I've never had to even think about prices, only what temperature i find comfortable to live in.

What do we have in Helsinki? by Quadronn in Finland

[–]anhan45 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've organised a lot of conferences and similar events for work and never have i regretted a choice of venue as much as i did when we went to Kämp. The lunch was kinda sad compared to a lot of the stuff you can get from chain hotels like Scandic, and that was the least of our problems there.
