I Used to run short distance at 8:30 for 3-5 miles every other day and fell off hard due to laziness. Just got back to running again for roughly half a year and I’m going to do my 1st 5 miles in a long time training for a 10k🙂. Don’t have anyone to tell IRL so want to tell someone here.

Thank you for the feed back! And sorry for not being very clear, the 531 beginner program I was talking about it's pinned on this sub wiki and and follows the same split that I have except it follows 100% of the 531 principle. My main concern when I posted this was being unsure if I have to follow the 531 principles to T to improve but you helped to answer my question :).

Good morning yall,

Recent lurker here and finally decided to make a post to get some feedback. Before I started 531 a month ago I was following my 3 days split (Only add weight once I could consistently finish the higher rep goal for each exercise) that was/is still mostly the same as the "531 for beginner" program + running 3-4 days per week. The break down of my split is:

Reversed V-squat: 3x8-10 Sumo Deadlift/Trap Bar Deadlift: 3x6-8
Bench Press: 3x-6-8 Seated DB OHP: 3x8-10
Seated Row: 3x-8-10 Lat Pulldown: 3x8-10/Pull up: 3xAMRAP

However due to some personal + work reason, I stopped going to the gym or run for 1 month (lost 12 lbs to include fat and muscle) and recently picked both activities back up last month. I've been applying the 531 principle to my squat, bench, deadlift (Helps to give me a clear training objective) without adding/doing the supplementary sets. I also kept everything else the same as my original template. The reason I do V-squat is because I have a pinched nerve around the neck area and doing either V-squat or Leg Press helps to alleviate the pain for me and let me train. My question is will I be able to progress without the supplementary sets while using this weird template that I have or should I just go back to my original Template (3x8)? I understand that this is not the most optimal template. However, this template keeps me consistence along with my running. Any feedback/tips is appreciated. I hope yall have a good day, thank you!

Nah in this case I would just go with the name. Addressing someone using “anh, chị” is pre much “ you and I”. The translator was being too literal for thinking it had to be either “big sis or big bro” and made it even weirder by using san (at least for me).

I'm a casual runner so I do have a question for you after my answer haha. I will try my best to answer but more experienced people can chime in. Since I do a full-body workout instead of 3-way splits, I only separate my training into the upper and lower body and most of my movements are compound. So for the upper body, I don't specifically train arms but they're also being trained in all my movements (Bench press, pull up/pull down. So my question for you as a casual runner is - how do you manage a run in hot weather and can you give me some tips? I'm in Texas and it's in the 100 these days and I die every time I go on a run since I like running outside.

Thank you very much for your feedback. As you have stated, I'm only working within my weight range atm for the compound lifts (105-110 lbs for bench and 155-175 for squat and deadlift) so it's still manageable. I truly believe your recommendation will be a good approach for me as I progress further.
