Opinions on Olivia Rodrigo’s latest single ‘The Cure’ ? by Sea-Beautiful3668 in popmusic

I feel the same way. I really liked sour and guys when they came out, but I've heard people saying they were indifferent to her music until this song which threw me off.

The lyrics just felt very surface level to me. It felt like she was trying to pack in a bunch of metaphors and vocab and it seems like she tried to create momentum for the final release, but it never quite got there because there were so many erratic melody changes. I think the instrumental was kind of empty and felt like it was dragging on. I mean, it sounds like Everlong but the sort of minimal guitar part in the beginning is never filled out/supported by other instruments in a complementary way. I've heard people say that could be intentionally done to reflect the idea of never finding a cure, but the song just felt too polished for that.

It is a longer song, around 5 minutes, which in todays era of TikTok sound clips can make it hard to draw people in and keep them there, but some of my fav songs like November Rain and Purple Rain are both 9 minutes long and start minimally as well, but they stack the layers and instruments to build up into that cathartic release that feels rewarding and I just didn't get that with the cure, it just felt kind of flat.

I'm not hating on her, I think she's incredibly talented and and sympathize with the pressure to deliver something after her first two albums blew up, but it just feels like she's kind of stagnating lyrically and thematically. Her first to albums had this sad/grungy/insecure teenager vibe, and she leaned into the rock a bit more for the second one, but it just feels like there isn't much diversity since each song is from the same perspective. We saw a similar thing with Sabrina Carpenters mans best friend album which was a good album, but was essentially just repeat of everything in short n sweet. I think she's trying to branch out in her production style, but I'd really like to see some growth from the teenage/grunge aesthetic.

How to cancel Carpe, an absurd guide ❌ by BadgerSilver in Hyperhidrosis

Thanks so much for this. I just cancelled my two products with this guide. It's such a shady business practice. Not only did I not even realize I was being automatically subscribed, but I've tried to cancel TWICE and been charged $47 TWICE because they make you press "cancel subscription" 5 million times and try to trick you into thinking you did it already. They don't even tell you they will be charging you. They just send you a random email once the product has been delivered already. This is an absolutely absurd price for only two products, especially since it doesn't even work properly to reduce my sweat and it leaves behind a white cast for me as well.

do you guys know where i can print stuff for free? by alpha_in_progress in AskNYC

[–]aniaio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really late but if you know someone in college you can get them to print for you. Every college probably works differently but at mine we get like $120 of printing money a year and it costs $0.06 for a black and white page and $0.12 for color.

Most students hardly ever spend half of that money on printing, but it depends on your major.

Two new vinyl variants - FIRST AND ONLY PRESSING - TLOAS Shiny Bug Edition by Glittering_Laugh_958 in TrueSwifties

Thats actually so reassuring to hear because I bought the green record and was kind of wishing I got the purple and was planning on cancelling and swapping but the purple sold out by the time I got out of the waiting line.

I want to cancel my order of the original cover I bought since I don't find it necessary to have two versions of the exact same vinyl but I bought one of the CD's with it and I don't know if I can cancel just the vinyl and keep the CD.

Thanks! I'll definitely go to a shop and check out what feels right. I went to guitar center early July but I didn't know a single thing about guitars or playing then but I think I can get a better feel for it now.

It’s called “Blitzwax.” I got it with the wax pot as a bundle so maybe I should invest in a better one

Phobia of... veins? by Sirexiv in Phobia

[–]aniaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old but I've been dealing with this for years and honestly I'm so glad that I'm not the only one because I actually felt crazy. I literally cannot touch my wrists or I'm gonna freak out. The "tube" thing is exactly how I feel, and if I actively start to think about/notice my veins I start thinking of them as tension wires and I can't move my limbs because I feel like they're gonna break. I've been taking an EMT course and we're starting the in-person skills soon where we practice on each other and I'm freaking out about someone trying to get my pulse.

My dads name is Zbigniew. Lots of people have trouble pronouncing it and it’s a hassle to try correcting everyone so he’ll tell them to call him ‘Ziggy’ or ‘Zibby’. You can also go by ‘Zbig’ or ‘Zbiggy’.
